For someone who had his last Brady post 6 days ago, you sure do hang on. Let me help. Gumborue said he thought Brady was a good X & O coach. You disagree. What do you want short of him saying "OK, Sourdough, you're right and I'm wrong"? Brady coached Div I basketball for 20 years or so. One must assume he has a working knowlege of the technical aspect of the game. You can't fake it for that long. Brady's team went to the elite 8 and the final four. He beat Coach K in a meaningful game. He can coach. Don't tell me otherwise. And, please, no more of your lame attempts at comebacks. Appoint someone to respond in your place.
He didn't need an interpreter. Wow, you sure are in to this stuff considering basketball is just a point to get you from point A to point B. I will assume you and Gumborue are correct and bow down. What does it then say about the results from the last 2 years of LSU mens basketball? We can remember all the good points but you can't ignore the other side of the coin such as the last 2 years don't count? I could geaux on about questionable kids that backfired and the seasons went up in smoke like Lloreda quitting the team and Minor leaving. The windfall from those seasons were incredible. Lets not forget that Brady didn't have a .500 winning percentage in the SEC. I would argue you and Gumborue are the ONLY LSU fans on earth still in Brady's corner. Thanks for Listening!
i didnt assert. i said i wouldnt be surprised. and its because i know brady was good. his downfall was not getting them to do it. but the main impetus for my post was because of all the gushing over grant, ive never heard them mention he is a great xs and os guy. he's a great recruiter--he's a great guy--he's developed some good players---he's great with the players. im reading between the lines. sorta like when you get a letter of recommendation for someone that says---they are very prompt and dress well.
Nope, just haven't been around for a while and thought I'd make some noise. You sure hang on too for someone that doesn't care about basketball. The difference between you and I is I want LSU basketball to be better, good program and you don't really care for obvious reasons we've discussed. Come back and talk to me when you want LSU basketball to be good and we'll talk. You can say what you want about me but I am as passionate about LSU basketball as some are in all 3 main sports. Your pretty lame as well since you don't like any basketball coaches that are one and done with the tournament, what kind of nonesense is that? I know that way you might have to eat your words in the other thread about LSU basketball won't be any good for years to come. Why don't you find that for everyone to see? I would NEVER put myself in a position to root against an LSU team and Brady proved that in my case. One more thing SF, Brady did make it to the final four but any coach can have a good year if the cards fall right. Dinardo beat Spurrier and the number 1 team in the nation, he also beat Saban but that didn't mean he was a great coach!
To the people who say Brady was a good coach, ect, ect. Hey! barry swtzer won a super bowl........ Sometimes the players pick it up and run with it and will win no matter what scheme is run. In my opinion with the talent we had 3-4 years ago we should of had more tourny wins than we did. thats just my $.02
plus another thing, good coaches can keep good players around to get their degrees, Bobby Knight did (I'm not saying that BK should be our next coach) Duke and NC have returning seniors constantly. I realize we are not an elite BB school but look at florida all it takes is a few years of good recruiting
2 things from this thread: 1. It's clear Sourdoughman is from Colorado, because he has no clue about the problem. That's not a shot at you, because it's not your fault, but it's real obvious you're pretty far away from what is going on down here and what has been going on for the past 3-4 years. 2. How about Butler's coach? He is 31. Looks pretty promising.
Just wondering: If LSU contacts the recruits & asks if Grant is hired will they still come? Are there other schools after Grant? Butler is giving Tenn fits & always seem to be in the Tourney - what about their coach? Davidson is leading Georgetown -another choice? Whatever the choice I hope we can unite behind him & he is very successful at LSU..:geaux:
I agree Tom. I hope Skip (or whoever is really doing the hiring) is watching the tourney and is making a list of these good young coaches because there are a bunch. Butler, Davidson, San Diego.....I liked the San Diego coach. I liked the way the coach from Western Kentucky worked the game and spoke afterwards. Hey, like I said I'm not saying Grant is Coach K or anything. This LSU basketball hire is more important IMO than when LSU hired Brady. They need to take their time, interview EVERYBODY and choose the right guy. (Right guy is a good coach, good recruiter, good program builder/sustainer and most important IMO is a guy ready to come in and sell this program again. Sell it and inject it with excitement the way Bruce Pearl did for Tennessee.) There's a bunch of young good coaches out there. Go get one of them.
