just lost to UAB by 3 in the NIT if we are getting A. Grant how soon will he be announced as our coach?
give him 10 mill a year. that magical NIT run he had was brilliant. He is the mid-major Brady in that he is just riding 1 lucky win against Duke in the NCAAs.
here is my thing about it all: Without googling, can anyone tell me VCU's style? Do they play zone? Man? Are they up-tempo? slow-tempo? Point is that people here don't know ANYTHING about Anthony Grant. They just want him, because everyone else does. When Miles was rumored to be leaving, Spurrier-mania began and that wasn't so bad, because at least people here knew what he would bring to the table. You can't say the same about Grant... He is only liked, because some "smart" guy said it was a good move and everyone else is going along with it.
Few people care, really, because not a whole lot of people can tell you the difference. The only thing most people are interested in is a change from "Brady-Ball." Another coach guarantees that. You know I'd like to see BP stay, but I know it's not going to happen, so jump on the bandwagon.
it's not about who I do or don't want. If LSU wants to make a mistake, that's their banana. I just think it's funny how someone who you all know nothing about gains so much prestige. If I had to make a list of 5, he would be on it. Wouldn't be on the top. In no order: Grant, Lavin, Bobby Cremins (coaching at a small school now), Scott Drew and Floyd. Some of those are more likely than others, obviously.
I say we wait and try to pounce on a mid-major coach who goes far. It worked for Tenn. Why couldn't we convince Gonzagas coach to join us? Surely we could pay more.
I'm living in CAA-land, and Anthony Grant is credited here with really turning around the VCU program. Since he's been there, they've had consistently good teams. I'd be happy for him to be LSU's coach and to be gone from VCU. =)
