Whether we want to believe it or not, where a coach is at has a lot to do with his success. For example, we have no way to know if Croom is as a good a coach as Miles, Saban, Meyer, etc are, he's not exacty competing on an even field with those guys.
Nah. Coaches at second tier schools are judged on improvement, not conference or national championships. If S. Carolina was seriously contending for the SEC East title, then that would be where I'd expect Spurrier to be able to take them. He's not. In my book, he's failing. Not because he couldn't beat Vandy. At some point, Vandy's going to beat somebody. No, I say he's failing because his team in undisciplined (they always seem to be) and he can't seem to come from behind. I think the stat is 1 for 15 or something coming from behind (ahem: so to speak)? Horrid.
To me, there is a very clear stat that tells us he is failing at USC. Total SEC losses in 11 years at UF: 12 SEC Losses so far (it's his 4th season there): 13 and remember, he turned florida into the powerhouse it is today. I think his problem is that he is a QB's coach and so far he has not been able to recruit that 5-star QB his type offense needs.
