When the head coach no longer demands excellence and tolerates play like we’ve seen the last few years it’s time for him to go. Pawl hasn’t fired or hired an outstanding assistant since Canizaro (sp ?) and has tolerated Alan Dunn’s incompetence for too long. Even in the years with good records he’s let too many opportunities pass. He has a passive approach that doesn’t mold his teams into hard attacking products to be feared. I would say he should be told to shake up his staff or leave but as with Les shaking up the staff won’t change anything because he won’t change. I don’t see how we can get rid of him until the NCAA investigations into football and basketball are over and judgment/punishment is rendered. It will be more than difficult to hire a quality coach with loss of institutional control sanctions hanging over our heads. I fear we’re going to suffer awhile longer with Pawl.
Noted but for a program in the heart of the arms race , excellent facilities and best fan base in the nation - some losers have walked the sidelines
and yet all but 2 coaches in those 2 sports over that time have won a Natty. i’ll take those “losers” results over vast majority of the rest of the arms race over the same time frame.
