Uh, not so quick, sonny jim. There are the logical sensible people as well that hold legitimate discussion on everything LSU. PS - You can't switch camps like that. lol
I have it LSU 24-7. I think our defense will come alive in Death Valley. I sure hope so, because Vandy's offense may in fact be the worse offense we face this year in the SEC (along with Mississippi State). If we win 31-27, we're in for a long year and we will have to outscore everyone to have a successful campaign. That will be brutal to go through again, because I love my defense at LSU.
First off, let me say I believe LSU will beat Vandy handily, and will look much improved from the UW game. I believe in fact that the team will improve as the season progresses, and we are able to fit other players in and find out who our players are. I'm optimistic about the season in general. - What I don't understand is all the excuses that come when some of us post criticism. Some of the most popular ones so far...in order of ridiculousness. 1)"We only gave up 13 real points"...or "The score was really 31-13". This one is in the lead, and it isn't close. This is the most asinine comment ever posted on the internet...really. The score was in fact 31-23. If the points didn't count, they wouldn't put them on the scoreboard. We had points that they gave us too. In fact, if they don't fumble on the 4 and throw the pick 6, they win. Kudos to our D for getting those turnovers. Those things are part of the game, and they count. The scoreboard reflects the actual score of the game...period. Especially in this game. It's not like it was a blowout and we put the reserves in while they were playing their starters. That's the only time that argument is acceptable. 2)Time zone/jet lag/blah blah blah. If that was the case, we would've played better in the first half and worse in the second...because apparently it would've been past these college kids bedtimes in the second half. But interestingly enough, we played better in the SECOND half than the first. Fact is, we didn't tackle worth a crap in the first half, and it wasn't as easy as we expected to run up and down the field on them. At halftime, apparently the coaches had an opportunity to point out some things, and the guys responded...at least better than in the first half. 3)Our QB is only 19. So? It's true that he is young and inexperienced. I don't expect him to light the world on fire. But if he makes a mistake, and someone points it out, him being 19 doesn't make it less of a mistake. I'm not saying the fact that he's 19 doesn't matter. Just saying that if he makes a mistake, it's still a mistake...and it's OK if people post on the board that JJ made a mistake. Just like Lee last year. He made awful decisions all year, and a lot of people wanted a change at QB. Some went overboard, yes. But some made excuses for him, as if that made a difference. Yes, he was a freshman thrown into the fire too soon. But a change WAS needed...as has been proven now. Sorry for the rant, but I want folks to understand that...just because a person criticizes or points out flaws doesn't mean they think everything is terrible. There are flaws...and excuses do not make them non existant.
Thanks for setting us all straight, Fishy... I got lost there for a minute. Don't know what I would have done without your guidance! I really needed to understand that your opinion is the only one that matters here on TF. :dis:
1) Points at the end Those were garbage points scored with no time left on the clock and Miles has already stated that the gameplan was to let them march down the field and just eat clock, which we did a good job of. People aren't saying that "they do not count" they are saying that those 7 points scored with no time left do not reflect poorly on this team or defense as it was the gameplan at that point in time. 2) Jet lag They would have been sluggish coming out and as the game went on blood would start pumping, etc. You're damn tired until you get moving.. never felt like that before? I'm not saying it had alot to do with the game.. but to say it had nothing to do with it.. I can't buy that. The point was raised that Pasedena this year is in the same time-zone..
