Well I have always said nothing is going to happen to Auburn. IF they did something they covered their tracks very well. Face it now you know what they are looking for and you can easily cover your tracks. So yes nothing will happen to Auburn. Bank on it. They are laughing all the way to the proverbial bank.

Also as I said in this very thread. In my opinion he would be foolish to take it. He will get more offers, from some mid major schools or even AQ conference in short order. Vandy although a great school isn't a place he can win. Sure 7 wins is feasible but his ego is to big for that.
He isn't staying at Auburn, he is staying at Auburn for now because he is holding out for something better.
    Pure and simple.

I don't disagree with this, with the exception of one possible problem. A Cam Newton only comes along every now and then, and how potent would his offense have been with out him. By turning this down he is taking a big gamble on his, hot commodity status cooling off real quick should AU fall back to the ranks of 7-5/8-4. Where as all he has to do at Vandy is get them to a bowl a couple of times and he should be considered even hotter.

The rumor is that now that they don't have to pay $cam, there will be plenty of money for raises.

    I started the rumor.

No offense, but don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. Just because you said that, and then he turned them down, doesn't mean you're correct. It just means he is, in fact, nuts. This will bite him in the arse, because with what they're losing this year, they'll be back to '09 form next year...and his star will be tarnished. There could not POSSIBLY be a better time for him to bolt from there. The only way this makes sense is if he thinks he has a shot at a better gig THIS year...which I cannot think of one he has any shot at.

Ummmm .... are saying the SEC is not a major conference??

I personally think Malzahn is smoking crack!!! Just because Vandy is the bottom of the SEC barrel, this is not to say that it does not have the potential to be a premier contender. It is already in the best conference in the nation. If Malzahn would have taken Vandy to a few bowls ... err .. or the SEC championship, I'd say that would look dang good on your resume. But then .. you wouldn't need a resume anymore, you'd of found a home for life. I mean ... where ya gonna go after climbing to the top of the SEC??? ... the Big East?? Pac 10??

The ONLY explanation I can think of is .......
    .
    .
    .
    .
    . wait for it .......
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
Patrino is thinking of leaving Arkansas and Malzahn has been promised the job when he does. He'd be home sweet home coaching at the school that I know he still pulls for deep in his Razorback heart.

He must have realized that it's impossible to recruit at Vanderbilt and he'd be able to take an ACC or Big East job and get to a BCS game in 1-2 years if successful.

Vanderbilt's facilities are 3rd world compared to the big timers of the SEC. They only have one practice field and it's not even a full length field. It's 90 yards with one end zone. They don't have an athletic dept. anymore, it assimilated with student recreation a few years back.

Malzahn would have bombed there, because you need speed to run that offense. The only areas Vandy recruits is Nashville and then Atlanta/Birmingham leftovers. Dead end job. He'll get plenty more offers, even if they aren't in the SEC they'll be better than the Vanderbilt situation.
