Boise State benefitted from 1 horrible no call, and 1 horrible call on their last possession. On the VT punt, a hokie was clearly blocked in the back. Just because a guy falls sideways doesn't mean he wasn't hit in the back, i take it they aren't physics majors. If I push you at full speed on your right shoulder, you are going to turn and fall sideways. Also, that late hit out of bounds, was a call the SEC officials would be proud of. Can't say that Boise wouldn't have won anyway, but damn, the zebras aided on that last drive. Let me clarify, Herbie said that he was at an officals meeting and they made a point of emphasis to say that on returns if a guy falls sideways he wasn't pushed in the back. That sounds absolutely ridiculous. How about call the penalty when it happens and don't look at how people fall on the ground to constitute if you call the penalty or not.
i almost always subconsciously pull for the underdog. surely, when i see a lot of white dudes, i know they are up against it. in turn, i pull for whiteys.
i knew it was late when he hit him. you stop when you hear the whistle (clearly blown a few steps before the hit), not when the guy quits running. replay showed he hit him on the shoulder from the side. block was legit. edit to add: if you want to complain about a no call, the wr pushed off two different Defenders on the winning TD. both were minor and i'd be pissed if they called that on such a crucial play.
I would like to add that this has been the most civilized game thread since baseball season. Congratulations planet purple. :thumb:
I totally disagree with you, i watched that play a few times and i saw a push in the back. Also on the hit out of bounds i didn't hear a whistle. That is one of those penalties that is a no brainer. You cannot make that call.
Just think, as much as people wanted Boise to lose to be out of title contention, Virginia Tech is now eliminated from the national title picture. The #10 team(or #6) is done after 1 week.
i wasnt even watching close but was obviously late. yep. they usually make the wrong call here. glad they know the side is not in the back. how about the 2nd to last pass by va tech. he shoved the dude into the ground.
That late hit call was pretty cheap. It wasn't a hard hit, it wasn't clear if the guy had gone out of bounds, and the guy was still running. I'd have been pissed had LSU been hit with that call.
