"Saturday night's nationally-televised Washington vs. Louisiana State football tussle at Husky Stadium won't be much of a contest. At least Vegas doesn't think so. ...so let's talk about what can happen when a national title contender (like LSU) plays an early season game 2,000 miles from home in a loud, hostile stadium against an unranked power conference team (like Washington). One thing that can happen is that the national title contender will get stomped. Ask the 1983 Washington Huskies, who in September of that year traveled to (COINCIDENCE ALERT) Louisiana State University as the proud possessors of a #9 ranking, and left having absorbed one of the worst losses of the Don James era. Facing a record Tiger Stadium crowd of 83,390, the Dawgs wilted against unranked LSU. Washington committed 109 yards worth of penalties, and permitted future NFLer Dalton Hilliard to run for 121 yards. The Huskies--who had 17 future NFL draftees on the roster--left Baton Rogue on the ouch end of a 40-14 beatdown," UW Football History Provides Hope for Upset of LSU - Seattlest the way i look at it is, lsu beat uw in 83 and lsu will beat uw in 09. besides, does anyone think they have a dalton hilliard carrying the ball?
Yeah, but LSU was 8-3-1 the year before, not 0-12 and had just barely lost to #12 FSU and had spanked Rice. This will be a clinic. A beat down.
Ok, so Les Miles has never lost to an OOC opponent while at LSU. In fact every major OOC opponent he has faced, and please someone correct me if i am wrong, have been major beat downs. Virginia Tech, Miami, Ohio State, Notre Dame. but then there is Arizona St. which in the box score was a home game, but in reality was a road game. I think this is the only Pac 10 team Miles has faced while at LSU, and granted Sam Keller was a stud when we played them, and they had a offense. and factor in Katrina, and people not knowing if their family was ok. So is it going to be the ass whoopin that it should be? Or will we play down to our competition, and will Miles and Crowton hide their hand so to speak? That being said, i think LSU wins, and i think they will win by 2 touchdowns. But they should win by 4 touchdowns. Our talent is far superior to Washington.
Wet ball, turf still slippery, and not to mention COLD. All of these things could affect the passing game and reduce the speed advantage. Still think LSU will win with a heavy dose of Scott/Murphy. I'm actually more worried about being soaked in the audience.
LSU's defense is key. if the tigers can shut down locker, LSU's offense could accidentally score a couple TD's and be fine. however, if our D gets scored on like the drunk girl at the party and we have to take part in some kind of shootout then that might worry me a little. dominating D = LSU football. i don't think it will be a blow out but i don't think the outcome will be in doubt past the 1st half either. at least i hope.
