    I haven't even asked. :D

We just had a discussion about "finances" since we have a beach vacation scehduled at the end of the month. It will take some delicate negotiations to pull this off.

all ya gotta do is convince her to come w/ ya. One year and she'll be hooked. Lisa can't come this year b/c of work, but there was never any grief about me and the kids going. Last year was our first CWS and we won't miss any more when LSU is playing.

since you guys seems so intrigued... the "fish that drinks twice its weight" explanation is really just an urban legend that's been passed on by students. here's the "real" story:

also - for those who don't know much about UVA, the school... it was founded and designed by Thomas Jefferson and the campus (we call it the "grounds") are jaw-droppingly gorgeous. The Lawn - also called the Academical Village - is one of 20 world heritage sites in the country:

World Architecture Images- University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA

Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Aaaah, Washington and Lee....I always confuse them with Bill and Mary.:).

I heard that's where the hot chicks are. I've met some UVA grads before. There are a fair number of them in New Orleans because it's one of the schools of choice for the Rex/Comus crowd. Me, I was banished for life from the Jefferson City Buzzards so it's a wonder I even am aware of that fact.

(My only explanation for the banishment consists of two words: "practice parade")

There is nothing more beautiful than seeing the Comus queen bent over barfing her guts out in front of Fat Harry's!

Is Bruno's still around? In my younger days Uptown, the Thursday night places used to be Buffalo's & Bruno's.

    Nice!!

Bruno's is somewhat around. (They moved across Hillary St. from "The Raven", Old TJ's). It's now clean with a nice bar and lots of TV's. The Debris Fries are great.

When I moved to Boston for a few years, I made a group of friends that went to UVA. They were not opposed to having too much fun. They showed me what a Peppermint Patty shot was (Peppermint Schnapps after filling your mouth with chocolate syrup) while I showed them how to do a Tasmanian Devil impression after drinking too much Beam.

To all the Hoos, congrats on getting to Omaha. It is possible to win from the losers bracket.

If you visit again, try to make it for the early part of fall semester. The sundresses are out in force and, as Crash Davis would say, "The women have long legs and brains. It's a smorgasbord."

That Thomas Jefferson was something else.

The university was revolutionary in that it was based around the library and not the church. The Rotunda was at the center, with the colleges and dorms forming the quad.

The Rotunda itself is a half scale model of the Pantheon. Also, if you look, he pulled some ques from his house in Monticello.
