my ex and i used to ride bikes around the city all night long and then finish the night doing that. i have to say, this was one of my favorite things to do when i lived down there. it is so peaceful at that time of morning, just watching the river and watching the city come to life.
Been living here 5 years and havent been able to sit on the sand in the morning and watch the sun rise over the water (that is with a significant other). Every time we get a hotel room for the night on the beach, we end up getting too drunk the night before and either fall asleep to early...or refuse to get up that early. Maybe for our honeymoon, i will drag her butt out of bed at 5:30 and force the non-morning person to sit with me. Of course I think I would rather be where Cali is to watch the sunset...but, i guess you take what you got.
Don't think I've seen this place mentioned, Pascal's Manale @ 838 Napoleon Avenue. It is a local favorite in the Garden District that is not very "touristy". You can take the trolly down St. Charles and stop at Napoleon Avenue. Order the BBQ'd "shrimps". This dish is uniquely New Orleans and despite its name is not cooked on a pit, you won't be disappointed ! Second the motion for Camillia Grill ! I lived in New Orleans for three years and thats probably the place I ate at the most. And you have to go to Mother's , get the bread pudding, best I've ever had ! By the way, I bet I can tell you where you got your shoes ? Get ready
One more thing I forgot to add. If someone approaches you and says "I'll bet you $20 bucks I know where you got your shoes at? Dont answer and DO NOT TAKE THE BET! The answer is "On Your Feet"!
Honestly I dont know if people fall for it or not BUT I have been asked at least 3 times that I can remember by some bum...One of which carried around a mannaqins head
What starts out as a seemingly harmless hustle often escalates into a wallet or purse snatching. Many times when you take out your wallet to give the hustler a buck they grab your wallet and run. So please, Ute fans, just ignore and keep walking. If you feel compelled to say something to someone who wants to bet you where your shoes are repeat after me: " I bet you my shoes gonna be up your a$$ if you don't get outta here". The hustlers are looking for a naive, easy, drunk mark and they usually move on.
Side note to any Ute fan coming to Baton Rouge. Send me a private message if you need advise or suggestions. I'll be happy to help.
