anyone here think USC just might be the best team in the country although they didnt play for it all? i certainly think they could be.
You forget to take your meds this morning or you just in the mood to stir sheet? You have to earn your way to a title shot, the condoms didn't do it, weak schedule and lost to a poor team.
that wasnt my point. we lost two games toward the end of the season last year and won the NC. not stirring anything. i really think they could be the best team in the country. did you miss the "although they didnt play for it all?" I was asking for opinions not if they made it to the title game. I think we know they didnt. USC was 3-1 against ranked teams. UF was 4-1
USC's argument is that they regularly beat up on the SEC (AU, Ark). However, my feeling is, if they had to play an SEC schedule week in/week out it would take a physical toll on them and they would not be as successful as they are in the Pac 10. LSU last year is the prime example. We were probably the best team in the country when at full strength, by lost in a trap game (no excuses) right after the FU win and before AU to Kentucky and were severely banged up defensively against Ark. Both of those teams, we probably beat 9 out of 10 times. I'm not saying USC couldn't be successful in the SEC. They certainly have the talent and depth. I just thing they would have to adjust their game from finesse to a more physical style, if they did.
Yes. Trouble is, in this sport you are rewarded for the season you put together and not talent. They need to figure out why, once a year, they are all thumbs against a team that should not even challenge them.
consider me disappointed. fwiw i dont think they are better than florida or ou. they dont have a good offense.
i agree with this except the trap game part. it was a trap game but no one recognizes them unless its against their school. otherwise, its called a humiliating loss. you know, like Oregon St.
No I didn't miss a thing just found it a very strange topic given the anti USC sentiment of the board. I could care less who played for it all I understood your point perfectly and USC didn't earn the right to even be considered. Last year was a very different year where you didn't have many teams earn the shot at a title. How many upsets of contenders happened in the last few weeks last year for LSU to make it? This year a few teams played tough schedules and earned the right to enter into the MNC conversation. IMO Utah and USC are not in that group no matter how hard the talking heads at ESPN suck at their crotch.
