Yes its a violation what USC is alleged to have done. Still, its time for people to quit crying over spilled milk. Face it, USC got McKnight, we didnt. Do I like all the attack from USC, Ole Miss, and $aban, of course not. You cant tell me even LSU hasnt pulled some questionable tactics in recruiting. I dont care how classy Miles is, and we all know $aban pulled dirty tricks when here at LSU. Im not saying this to knock ANYONE. Im just saying in the high stakes world of bringing in big time recruits teams/coaches will pull out all the stops, get over it. As mentioned it will result in a small slap on the wrist for USC. The real problem they have to worry about is the incidents with Bush. Where they are facing serious ramifications.

I don't know. USC is starting to pile up rumored violations along with 5-star athletes and the NCAA is surely interested, especially since so much is public.

McKnight would be best served not to lie about it to any NCAA investigators or he could end up suspended. Let USC take the minor violation, don't take it for them.

Minor violations are smoke, but if there is a fire there, the NCAA will eventually find it.

I hear what you are saying but I would have posted the link to the story even if the recruit wasn't McKnight.

I understand what you are saying, that it is news. Therefore it should be brought up. Dont get me wrong either, the NCAA should look into ANY illegal allegations regarding the recruitment of a player. Truth is though its a cut throat world that pretty much all the schools are playing their part in. Does it make it right? Nope, not at all.

The biggest problem right now with the NCAA and PAC-10 is their hands are tied. As long as the criminal investigation of the Bush affair is ongoing, "nobody" is talking. From what I understand the NCAA/PAC-10 investigation is at a complete stand still. Lawyers have advised all involved parties to keep quiet. That doesnt mean once the dust settles the NCAA wont get involved because I think they will. IMHO, the NCAA is going to be spending a lot of time at USC once the criminal aspect of this case is over. However, that may be a long time from now especially if their are indicments and a trial.

    exactly!

although in this case it might be more appropriately called "lack of institutional self-control". :hihi:

"Institutional contol" is defined by "Self-control".

ding ding. as minor as it is, its the thing that pisses off the Nazi Collegiate Assrapers Association. As much as I knew this was a minor violation, its likely to add more fuel to the fire regarding the burning bush. Especially if the trojanettes are failing to cooperate with that mess.

I did find it hilarious when I read the quote a couple of days ago where McKnight said he had the burning bush on speakerphone then tried to later correct it by saying it didnt affect his choice. now they are saying it didnt happen.

i think its stupid anyhow. you can only have limited contact with a recruit as a coach yet you can text message an unlimited amount of times; but they find it reasonable for ex-players to not recruit their school.

you just need to look at their decision to implement the clock rule last year to see how freaking clueless this group is. who in their right mind who knows anything about football or any sport sits at a table and can even discuss that rationally with a straight face. there isnt one person on the committee who stand up when its presented to laugh in their face? not one?

they are so far disconnected from the actual sport and its fanbase its rather sad they reap the benefits. i suppose its a bunch of bluehairs who know nothing about the actual product while simply staring at a balance sheet wondering how they can get a bigger slice at any costs.

i should stop before i rant another 10 pages offtopic. i just wish the NCAA would fold. they are no different than your usual bloated, ineffective governmental agency. They are the U.N. of college athletics.

I wonder if its on tape where he said that and even the guy on ESPNU said Mcknight was reassured by a phone conversation with Bush when Pete C visited him. If i was Bush i wouldnt helped them after the way they treated him concerning the rose bowl this year.

It was on TV, it's more than just on tape they showed that exact clip on the news and he did say that pete called bush while pete was visiting mckinght and that bush assured him(mcknight) that there was no wrong doing. No way he just got confused and said that, he was either flat out lying then or he is flat out lying now.
