http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp...y?coll=la-headlines-sports&ctrack=1&cset=true It has been reported that McKnight said he had a three-way conference call with OnePete and Reggie Bush re potential recruiting violations involving Bush. This alleged conversaton itself may be a recruiting violation. Aw shucks, it was just one big misunderstanding. OnePete says it didn't happen. Said he wanted to do it but was told it would be a recruiting violation. Oh, I see OnePete didn't know that. Come on OnePete get real ! Interesting.
Yea, the backtracking from Curtis and McKnight is laughable. Saying that McKnight was just confused is disingenuous. I understand getting your words mixed up, but saying you were on a three way call is not a case of just using the wrong words to say you didn't have that call. Unbelievable...I'm sure there are improprieties with many programs, but it sickens me to no end that the rules are so consistently flaunted by one program and nobody does a damn thing about it.
Yeah this is sad, they will not get any backlash from the NCAA over this or the Reggie Bush investigation either, it is funny how Joe said they talked to Reggie on speaker phone but now since it may be a violation that it never happened like that. There were also rumors that Reggie had been talking to Joe during the recruiting, makes you kind of think that was more than just rumors, but bottom line the NCAA and ESPN(ABC) can not afford to let USC get on probation.
Can't see how an 18 y/o athlete would not know if he spoke to Reggie Bush on the phone. Anyway, it's nothing more than a minor recruiting violation. Saban had one of those when he was here at LSU. All the money Reggie and family got is a much bigger issue for USC.
Maybe the NCAA will put USC on "double secret probation." JEDI: I never set up a call between Reggie Bush and Joe McKnight ONEPETE: I never set up a call between Reggie Bush and Joe McKnight JEDI: I thought about doing it but found out it would be a recruiting violation ONEPETE: I thought about doing it but found out it would be a recruiting violation JEDI: Joe McKnight is just confused. ONEPETE: Joe McKnight is just confused. JEDI: USC won the National Championship in 2003. ONEPETE: Really ? Funny how we don't have any crystal for that year. LSU actually won the National Championship that year and they were a far superior team to USC.
Very interesting. It looks like McKnight and Curtis are back peddling as fast as possible. Their explanation doesnt make sense at best and is a down right lie at worse. Nothing will come of it thought except some bad press. Its a minor violation and wont result in anything more than a slap on the wrist.
