what I love most about the USC loss is they went pass-first, passing 41 times to 28 rushes...and Golden Boy Barkley was a miserable failure completing only 49% of his passes and throwing 2 picks and no TDs
I realize it was the #2 ranked team losing to a team ranked in the 20's. However, seeing this loss makes the fourth in a row I have a hard time placing it in the "upset category." One thing that was resolved this weekend? Kiffin has yet to win more than one big game as a head coach and that was because Oregon missed a kick.
For all Kiffen's roster manipulations to try to minimize the USC sanctions from the NCAA, the sanctions have taken their toll. I'm guessing that it didn't help that stories regarding more potential violations surfacing came out recently as well.
Let's not overreact here. USC's center played like a DII player that game, and the rest of the o-line really didn't do any better. No QB can do anything when the d-line gets that much pressure every single snap.
Sounds like excuses to me. USC has compromised depth as a result of their prior cheating. Their starting center was out and their backup was not up to the task. Contrast that with LSU, whose center was out last night and have a reshuffled line on the left side. Porter was able to fill in for Lonergan without LSU dropping off much at all. LSU rotates players in and out with no drop in production where it matters. USC apparently can't do that.
Never was even remotely sold with the depth issues with this team. The media had no shame in promoting this unit to it's preseason glory. How you can consider a legitimate national championship team without considering who has the top 45 players is ridiculous. And finally even at that, who would fail to consider the Kiffin factor. Wishful thinking.
USC apologists and media outlets whose primary job is to sell ads in one of the largest media markets in the country (as opposed to reporting truth).
