Looks like they will also have some sanctions on them limited contact with recruits. Which means they will have less calls to prospects, fewer guys who can come to Official Visits, and less in-home visits before NSD. That is going to be hard to follow for Kiffen and Coach O given their standards.
Well, well..... It looks like USC didn't repeat as national champions. Oh wait, they didn't even win one, even though they try to claim a piece of our 2003 championship. I don't know how they can choose a BCS champion for 2004 now, but certainly Auburn deserves a mention. Our SEC champion should have been superior to Oklahoma after they lost to LSU the year before, but Auburn can't prove it now. I just love it. I can't stand Kiffen and this hurts him. Petey knew what was coming and bolted for the NFL. I am not a Reggie Bush fan and this just solidifies what I thought about his character and the character of his family for accepting the gifts. Luckily they can't take away the Saints' Superbowl win because of Bush. You also have to wonder if Auburn had won their only BCS title, if Tubby would still be at Auburn. This type of punishment, loss of scholarships, and bowl bans have set other programs back considerably and I think the same will happen at USC. With the possible expansion of the PAC 10 to include more and more teams, the competition is improving at the same time which also isn't timely for the Trojans.
I wonder if Ogre and Lame will still be selling that same old line, "You're going to be the next Reggie Bush!" No, they probably wouldn't want to say that anymore. Wait, I know, " You're going to be the next....Joe McKnight!" Oh no, wait he might be under investigation too...Maybe they will go old school, "You're going to be the next....O.J.!" No, not O.J. Mayo, O.J. Simpson." Oh well, neither one is really that good of an example. I guess UCLA is laughing their a$$ off right now.:lol::hihi:
for whatever reason people dont (or didnt until now) focus on the 20+ scholarships. the bowl bans hurt the present - no big deal. all i have heard is usc will recruit well so it wont be a big blow. really? when your right guard goes down in august, you dont look to a 4 star redshirt sophomore. you have to get a walk-on senior defensive tackle to replace him. good luck with that...and honk if youve sacked jesse scroggins.
Yes it is mind boggling that no one really focuses on what this means 3 years down the road or even 7 years down the road. Depth is going to take a big hit even if they land some big prospects. 2 year post season ban will prevent them from winning anything noteworthy to make people forget what happened as well. Add the probation factor and a staff that consist of Kiffen and Co. the program will be on eggshells and negative recruiting will come into play for a long time.
