If Texas goes undefeated, they're in. But that's "IF"... They looked the best after last week and look even better after crushing Missouri.

And let me say, I know BAMA has no depth, but NONE of these teams have gone into a place like GEORGIA and posted a 31-0 SCORE in the FIRST HALF! That's unheard of in the SEC. They posted 40+ on the road against a top 5 team and won by 11. That's impressive no matter what anyone says. Bama is not stylish most of the time, but they have a complete team without injuries. So right now, they are one of the best. If Cody is out for a while for them though, that will hurt them bad. And yes, they could beat LSU at HOME. But I think we will have something to say about that.

USC has a lot of talent, but not established talent. They are playing TERRIBLE teams. They did kill Ohio St., but that was without Beanie Wells and with that other QB. That's like beating Florida without Tebow and Harvin.
And if yesterday's 69-0 score impressed you, just remember Washington State's other impressive games: 9-41 against PORTLAND ST, 14-63 against Oregon and 13-66 against Oregon St. USC is not playing very good teams and they lost to Oregon St. The same team that Penn St. beat 45-14. I know you can't play that game, but I believe it's their only common opponent. Bama has been more impressive that USC so far. USC is beating up on scrubs and there are still other undefeated teams right now.

Exactly. USC lost to unranked Oregon St, and have an overinflated confidence making them very vulnerable. Top 2 look like TX, and ALA to me right now, with PSU being up there along with FLA.

But, I would submit this is the exact problem with this subjective system. Because of early season losses or other issues, teams that gel late in the season are out of it by the time we get to bowl season. It sucks!!! Everyone of the teams mentioned above could beat the other on a given day, plus LSU, Missouri, OSU, etc. would all have a legitimate shot if we had a playoff!!! Instead we are sitting here talking about only 4-5 teams at midseason with legitimate shots.

From an objective standpoint(one without grudge for the 03' split) USC is playing as well as anyone in the country. I realize they dropped a game to Oregon State, but when they get things rolling, they can play with anyone in the country.

    Destroyed Virginia 52-7
    Pounded Ohio State 35-3
    Pounded Oregon 44-10
    Shut out Arizona St 28-0
    Destroyed Wash St 69-0

Keep in mind that LSU did drop two games last year to Kentucky and Arkansas. A loss doesn't always mean you aren't the best team, just that you had a bad day.

I disagree. Bama had two impressive wins and we now see that neither was as impressive as originally thought. Clemson has dropped 4 games and is nowhere near a top 25 team. UGA is Bama's best win and even the dawgs aren't playing like a top 10 team. Other than that, Bama has struggled against Tulane, Kentucky, and Ole Miss. Don't get me wrong, I think Bama is a solid team but I fail to see how they've been more impressive than USC.

You really can't guage USC's strength because of their schedule. Their only impressive win was against a down Ohio State. The other teams are cupcakes, including the one they lost to.

Texas and JoePa are playing well right now. They can run the table. And if they do, then they will vie for the MNC.

WHO HAS USC BEAT??? Ohio St. without BEANIE FREAKING WELLS and with Boeckman at QB except for a few plays. TOTALLY different team with Wells and Pryor.

It doesn't matter if you blow out sad teams. Who cares? It's about W's and L's. I think USC is very talented and I agree that one loss does not blow a season because they are impressive at times. But based on their resumes, BAMA has been better. What BAMA did to Georgia IN THEIR OWN HOUSE beats anything USC has done. And they are still undefeated in what we always say is the toughest conference in America. If Cody's out for them, they won't be as strong. But they've started out strong in most of their games and with their D and running game, that's all that matters.

Currently USC has 1 loss to a 4-3 team and Bama is undefeated with a win against a higher ranked team than what USC has. I'm just saying that up until this point in the season, Bama's been more impressive.

The media is trying to get USC back in. God, I crave seeing USC go up against a team with a GREAT defense. If you saw the Oregon State game, Sanchez doesn't do well under pressure (oh, that's right, Oregon State DOESN't have a great defense). Just trying to get the USC kool-aid drinkers to consider what would happen if...

Right now, Texas looks good with a fantastic quarterback. Again, please play a team with a defense. Penn State looks complete. Alabama is IMHO somewhat over-rated, but many would argue that LSU fits this category as well.

USC?? How could they possibly prove themselves with their schedule?

Bama is vastly overrated, I'm not drinking the Kool-aid.

As for USC, time will tell, but right now I like them to run the table from here on out.
