starting in 2010. Football coaches to keep poll ballots secret starting in 2010 - USATODAY.com "the final regular-season ballots in the USA TODAY Coaches' Poll will no longer be made public beginning with the 2010 football season, the American Football Coaches Association announced Wednesday, a decision that surprised some coaches." thoughts on this anyone? I think the public deserves the right to know where the coaches vote teams in the final poll. i guess this another way to make a shady ass system, even more shady.
I think the AFCA is angling to go with MWC proposal to replace polls in the current BCS formula and go with a selection committee.
It will be back to some coaches using the poll to bring down crucial rivals rankings for BCS points and pump up sure-win opponents for strength-of-schedule points.
There is nothing positive about this if you are a fan of a trying to get fair process that puts the best teams into the championship game. However, since the current system is screwed up so bad already, what difference does it really make?
On hold, at least according to Dennis Dodd - AFCA delays change to coaches poll at BCS request - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com If the AFCA does want to go back to secret ballots in 2010, the MWC proposal to go with a BCS selection subcommittee seems inevitable to me - Rivals.com College Football - Does the BCS need a selection committee?
I didn't see this one coming at all. Under the Freedom of Information Act, Sports Illustrated is asking public universities to supply the results of the Coaches Poll. Steve Spurrier, Coaches Poll voters subject to public records law - Andy Staples - SI.com South Florida has already complied and released Jim Leavitt's ballot. Coaches poll request nets first ballot - Andy Staples - SI.com
Although it probably wouldn't have been tough to figure out who, if this would've been in place during the '03-'04 season, we might not know that it was Lou Holtz who was the only coach to vote USCw No. 1 in the coaches poll when BCS rules explicitly state the winner of the BCS championship game is the national champion. Not exactly unexpected as his hate for LSU knows no bounds and was re-enforced earlier that year with the punishing beat down his 'Cocks' took. I can't wait for the day that ESPN puts him out to pasture. I'm more surprise that his colleagues don't force him to wear these when they're on the set with him.
