edit: I know who you can take off the roster to add Miller. JASON KIDD. I know they say he is the stabilizing force or whatever and some experts say he is why USA swept through the FIBAs tournament this past summer, but get real, that had a lot to do with Kobe being there, too. My point is with: Paul and Williams combined: 25 points 13 assists the USA doesn't really need Kidd's 0 points and 0 assists in 16 minutes. Opponents don't even have to guard Kidd http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/summer08/basketball/gamepackage/boxscore?gameId=725
Re: USA Basketball Gold? Australia gave us a run for our money last night. We barely pulled the game out. Cause=Awful shooting, no leadership, one on one basketball. USA Basketball shot 3 of 18 from the three point line (which is closer than NBA regulation) and a measely 20 of 33 (60%) from the free throw line (Considering Dwight Howard and Lebron James this isnt that bad) However, when we finally get a challenge, we do what we always do fold like a bad hand in poker. We resorted to superstar basketball, engaged in fights with the australians, and took bad shots all night. If we are to win the goal, Coach K needs to sit some people down to send a message to them and we need a leader who can keep the composure on the floor. The final score was 87-76. We were up by 7 points mid way through the 4th quarter.. That is all:nope:
That is scary. Its K's stupid offense -- most think because he is a college coach he would actually run a play but instead he uses his spread he stole from D'Antoni. When they look bad, they look just like Duke does when they look bad.
I couldnt have said it better myself, you are absolutely right about this. He isnt a bad coach, just the wrong venue right now. They need a different style of basketball to win this thing.
were they open threes or were they shooting with 2-3 guys in their face? If they were open and they shot 3-18, I'd say it was a fluke from a team who was just looking ahead to Beijing
Thats just my point Clair, open or not, they usually hit them. Looking ahead got them 3rd place and a embarrasing loss to Greece, last time around.
I somewhat agree. But that 2004 team just straight up sucked. lol I think they will win gold. I know that is not going out on much of a limb, but I think they will be fine.
I think they'll be fine as well, but we dont need any surprises, thats for sure. International ball has gotten much more competitive since 4 years ago. I mean look at all the players taken deals with teams in Europe and other countries. David Stern and USA basketball people are shyting bricks right now.
