On a slight tangent from the main thread, can someone fill me in on CUM's exit from FL, why he left (health?) & comment on his re-entry into coaching...doesn't Gator Nation now feel like a scorned woman?

His heart problems are well-known and was the supposed reason he left. If you remember he flirted with retirement prior to that but decided to return to UF at the time. A Gator friend tells me he just wasn't the same coach after that episode, so she seems to think his health problems were legit.

From what I can tell Gator Nation is going through much of the same stuff we went through when Saban ended up at Bama. Half of them are furious and the other half just want to move forward.

He did not actually have any heart problems. He was basically having panic attacks that present w/chest pain. Stress combined with anxiety, muscular spasms, and throw in a little acid reflux, and it feels like a heart attack. He was cleared fully by Cardiology.

That's the official line. One of his players isn't so sure.

    Only Meyer really knows.

According to the medical report released at that time, it WAS esophageal spasm. Known as "nutcracker esophagus," the pain can be tremendous and mimics a real heart attack, or at least, what most would think was a real heart attack. Secondary to a hiatal hernia and acid reflux, it is generally easily treated with medication, which prevents the spasm. However, with the severity of the pain these episodes bring on, the psychological affects can be disabling. Sounds like the reaction CUM had at the time, and following. Personally, I think he believed the doctors were hiding something from him, but with the success of treatment he's now more self-assured in the diagnosis. I guess he's told so many lies, he just found it difficult to believe anyone.
