Not so fast, my friend. Did you catch the final in their game against Wofford? 23-13 and it was much closer than that (13-10) for most of the game. I'd venture to say that any BCS team that let's Wofford hang around is not very good. But, that's just me.
South Carolina did the same thing in 2006, only beating Wofford 27-20. South Carolina had to stop Wofford on fourth down at South Carolina’s 10 to escape with that win. That was the same year they hung with national champions Florida at Florida 16-17 (great game). They also beat Bowden's Clemson and hung with Auburn 17-24 and Tennessee 24-31 (just like they hung with Georgia 7-14 this year). This year South Carolina turned the ball over to Wofford 3 times... 2 ints and 1 fumble, while Wofford never turned it over. Wofford (a school in South Carolina) is a really good team in Div II, they are Appy's State fiercest rival (they are in the same division and beat up on each other).
Correct me if I'm wrong, because I don't have time to look it up. But what was USCe record in '06? I'm guessing .500, like last year. They suck, they suck, they suck. They are picked to surprise every year, and even picked to win the east in the last couple years by some folks...yet continue to disappoint. They recruit fairly well...considering it's USCe. But they never do anything with it. One word...coaching. Spurrier is retired in reality. He coaches there for the golf...and that really is no secret. This isn't about whether or not they can hang with good teams. It's about the fact that they do NOT represent a "good win" for UGA...especially the way UGA struggled with them.
They were 8-5 in 2006 and won the Liberty Bowl. Spurrier at South Carolina 2005 - 7-4 before losing the Indy Bowl 31-38 to Missouri 2006 - 7-5 before winning the Liberty Bowl 2007 - 6-6 Spurrier's SC vs Georgia 2005 - L 15-17 (Georgia finished 10-3, beat LSU 34-14 in SECCG) 2006 - L 0-18 (Georgia finished 9-4, beat 11-2 Auburn and 10-2 VT) 2007 - W 16-12 (Georgia finished 11-2, beat Florida and Auburn) 2008 - L 7-14 I think Spurrier takes special pride it trying to stick it to Georgia. He was 11-1 against them in the World's Largest Cocktail party during his 12 seasons at Florida.
from what i hear around here its more the players. tons of USC players are from GA and didnt get offered by UGA.
Mark Richt did not unload on Georgia Southern and rarely puts up over 50 points like he did against Central Michigan, the MAC conference champion over the past 2 seasons. I'm not holding my breath on thinking that Georgia will be able to go undefeated, but I also don't see any team on the schedule that Georgia can't beat on any given Saturday. Just have to play the games.
id say you're right as of now. might wanna look again.:lol: iowa and ferentz have fallen on tough times again. losing to wannstedt then to northwestern and shut out in the 2nd half/5 turnovers. northwestern is now 5-0 in the big 11 tied with joepa.
