About the only good thing about being old is that I don't have to go through the hell of flying anymore!
It is hell. Especially when you do it often enough to know all the "tricks" especially post 911. Then you get into an airport with a bunch of idiots that have never been there before. They are always in front of you and they never travel in less than packs of 10
Post 9/11 flying can sometimes be an adventure. Flying out of Newark last summer, I got pulled over for a pat down. After that experience, I had a new sexual partner. That biotch's hand were everywhere on me. But, yes, it sucks to get behind folks who don't ever fly. My 15 and 12-year-old's get really irritated with folks who don't know what's what at the airport.
The end is almost in sight with the pointe shoes. My soon-to-be junior is quitting ballet this summer for the varsity drill team (which will take all of her time and half of our money), and my 12-year-old thinks ballet is too slow for her and wants to focus on just modern (no shoes!), lyrical, and learning some tumbling to add to her dancing.
Being a Planoette is going to be far more intense than ballet. They go to competitions during the winter and have won a national championship 6 times. So...a little late to the party, but we're entering the world of competitive dance.
