My first thought was perhaps oversight but I don't know Rivals well enough to make that kind of comment. He also shows up on a different Rivals list as the #2QB. I'll see if I can find that link. Scout still has him ranked in their hot 100. It's still early. None of these kids has played even one game of their senior year. If he's being looked at by SC, nd, and LSU just to name a few, he's no joke. http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?SID=880&CID=661892#QB
Scout has ranked their top 100. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=4&pid=88&yr=2008 Julio Jones is the #1 WR. Michael Brewster, J.B. Shugarts, Chancey Aghayere (never heard of him), Josh Jarboe, Tyler Love, DeAndre Brown, Dayne Crist (#2 QB), Chris Jordan (finally a top LB interested in us), Darius Barksdale, Melvin Ray, Brandon Harris, Chris Tolliver (The sole La recruit), and Brandon Moore all are listed as having interest in LSU. E.J. Manuel is not on this list.
I always like our chances of getting 1 or 2 top Mississippi boys. Neither Ole Miss or cowbell u can offer them a chance at a championship and we typically get a top recruit like Dickson or Ridley. If Saban reestablishes Bama as a contender it will be harder to do though, but right now I like our chances of getting one of the top 5 in Mississippi almost every year.
Looks like there are some conflicting opinions on Crist & E.J. Manuel. Rivals list Manuel as one of their top 100 prospects, Scout does not. Scout lists Crist as one of their top 100 prospects, Rivals does not. I think all the other QBs on their lists are the same. It will be interesting to see how their senior years go & which one ends up being the better overall prospect - although both are very similar. Both are 6'4" +, 200+ lb monsters, both can run pretty well, and both need to develop their touch. Their stats are also very similar from their Jr years considering that Crist only played 7 games while Manuel played 10 (which you can view on their Scout profiles). I'd love to have either one of them, and Crist will be deciding very soon. Let's hope we get atleast one of these guys! It will also be interesting to see how the QB competition plays out down the road between, hopefully, one of these guys & Jarrett Lee, who I was very high on last year.
Chris Jordan has Clemson as his early leader & we are out of his top 3, which includes Alabama & Ole Miss, but we haven't offered yet. He's a MLB, which is a definite need in this class, so I am not sure why we haven't offered yet except perhaps because it looks like he played mostly RB in high school so we may want to wait & see him in camp. Rivals lists him as an athlete, and he's in their top 250 to watch.
Don't forget to check the link I posted in the #11 post on this thread. While Rivals may not have Crist in their top 100, he is their 2nd rated QB behind Pryor.
