i sure hope so because LSU has to get back to what LSU has been known for over the past decade and that is a defense that will punch you in the mouth and fly all over the field. last year's dual coordinator catastrophe in my opinion was a lot worse than a true freshman making in game mistakes. I am just ready for some LSU football, i live for this time of year!:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
It is looking more and more like Shepard will play wide receiver. Not a surprise. In high school his quarterback stats were not that good. But he could be a game buster as a wide receiver in college.
I seriously believe that we have a good chance of going undefeated, all the way. The defense will not be the joke we fielded last year and the offense will be better than a year ago. If special teams is strong, it may get ugly and then we'll just have to worry about Miles keeping the guys focused.
Define "good", I guess. Otherwise, I'm with you 100%. I certainly agree we have a chance. But we have to beat an amazingly strong Gator team TWICE to go undefeated. That means one of three things has to be true. Either LSU is flying WAY under the radar right now - as in noone has a clue. Or, Florida isn't nearly as strong as they appeared to be last year when they looked really, really good. Or, Florida will sustain some tragic injuries to a few key players, like Tebow and Haden, etc. If none of those three things happen, I can see LSU beating UF once, but I wouldn't put any money on doing it twice this year. 10-2 is an awesome season considering the conference and last season. I'll be very happy with that this year. :thumb:
Reading into Miles' comments, it may be the fact that they weren't tackling (tag football) played into the offensive success. He actually felt that the defense won the scrimmage.:thumb:
I don't see how you can read that into the very few practices he has had. He will probably play a few positions until he climbs the depth chart at one of them. He has been practicing at WR, QB and RB.
wow, i want some more info any links to any of the highlighted plays or stats? i like to be under the radar 11 is just dandy with me--- also, if we lose a game, i hoep it's early b/c we all know the later in the season , the worse it becomes. like riddick said in his movie--- "i'll just sit all back of the bus like" and then when it happens you'll know!! cant wait i do not want to show all our skill at the washington games that we can win with our 3rd stringers
We will face some tough competition, so those games could go either way, really, you're right. I just think a lot of people are thinking we'll be better than last year but are really forgetting just how mediocre we were last year. Our offense was statistically decent, but it was hamstringed all season by poor qb play. Our defense was lost and won't be this year. I think the difference will be night and day, especially considering the reported new attitude of the team. We also owe quite a few teams a beat down from last season; I'm expecting damn strong this time around. Yeah, Florida will be good, but guess what, so will we. I'm really looking forward to this season and I won't be disappointed if we drop a few hard fought games. If we see anything like last season, however, suddenly Miles won't look like the strong coach we've come to believe he is. Somehow, I just don't see that (and it took me a while to warm to Miles).
Williams led all rushers with 71 yards in 9 carries. However, that included one 60 yard run. In other words he gained a total of 11 yards in the remaining eight carries. I am hoping he has a breakout year this year, but he won't if he continues to post these kind of numbers. I have not seen what numbers Murphy and Scott put up.
It's only fair to point out - this was a "thud" scrimmage. The runners were called down if defenders laid hands on them. That doesn't exactly pad the stats for the offense. Miles made a big point of saying that in the press conference.
