Where's the OL men!?! Our recent success in recruiting talented quarterbacks must be the reason all these high-grade receivers are interested in LSU.... Otherwise it seems our depth would be a determinant for these guys.
Lee Tilley would be a huge pick up as far as the OL, I would've never thought thought that we had a shot at him, but apparently he likes........................Pelini. They're both Ohio guys. Still in it for Chris Stewart, Trent Williams, and Ian Symonette, and some other guys, but those would be the big 4. And for the receivers, LaFell is the only guy who is going to be an underclassman next year at receiver so there will be plenty of balls to go around for the receivers in the near future. I hope Miles picks up 3 receivers. Dixon, Jared White, and Jared Mitchell (and pray he doesn't get drafted high in the MLB draft) preferably.
True, but rumor has it that LaFell's looked amazing and he'll only be a redshirt freshman next year. We will have Bowe & Davis as seniors, with Doucet & Carter as juniors. That would leave a lot of room for new recruits if they took redshirt years, but still with a very talented group ahead of them for a year. That would leave them redshirt sophmores before their real chance to shine - not bad at all. Plus, they would have a redshirt-junior Ryan Perrilloux at QB to get them the ball. I'm salivating with the thought of a 4th year Ryan Perrilloux throwing these guys the ball... Ok, you've convinced me that we should definitely try to pick up a few of these guys. :hihi:
For sure, I doubt many of these guys are looking to play their first year. If they redshirt, then they'd battle it out between them for the 4th receiver spot (assuming Doucet doesn't break out next year and turn pro) and after that one of them would have to start as a RS Soph. Not a bad situation. And I was sold on LaFell as soon as I saw his videos last year after we picked him up. His 3 star rating was a joke, but Rivals got his videos too late they said. He's going to be a monster.
JVincent, have you seen any videos of current WRs we're recruiting? I've heard good things, but haven't seen any videos. Also, what do you think of the chances for us landing 3 quality ones are? I know we've got a few interested, but 3 quality receivers is a lot for one recruiting class.
Yeah, I've seen all of Scouts video on them (except for Mitchell, they don't have any film on him). Jared White's impressed me the most. In the Alabama North/South All Star game deal last year he made an amazing one handed 50 yard grab. His other highlights were very Skyler Green-esque. He is very shifty. We've got a really good shot at all three that I mentioned. Dixon played with RP at ESJ and I'm sure he wants to join him here. Jared White is JR's cousin, he should sign with us. Jared Mitchell will almost certainly sign with us, but our main competition is the MLB, but he seems more interested in playing college ball than a potential first round pick probably should be.
I'd like to get those 3 plus Chris Mitchell. It's really obvious we need a playmaker, and Chris can do this. The guy just catches the ball like he was born to do it...high pass, low pass, behind him, over the middle, jump ball...he makes the play.
