I think this is probably the case. If Lee were in serious academic trouble, he wouldn't be playing at all, he'd be in study hall, with the University pulling out all the stops to get his grades up so that he could play in the post season. He may be in some trouble, but I don't think he is headed to ineligibility. I think as you do ... CLM is tunning up JJ for the big rematch if it happens. He needs the snaps, especially on passing, and that is what we've seen a lot of ... passing. I don't recall ever seeing JJ pass so much.
Given that McCoy played four full years without a significant injury, I think the one against Bama was just a fluke type injury. Although I don't have any inside information, I would be shocked if Lee was not available for the BCS NC game. If Lee was ruled ineligible and JJ got hurt in the Georgia game and we lose (i.e. also out for BCS game), that would appear to be the only scenario that could possibly keep us out of the big game. You know the talking heads would be questioning whether we'd deserve to be in the game with Mett as our starting QB (also coming off a loss). Let's win this weekend and let them talk about Bama & others.
who the starter will be should have zero bearing. the body of work of the season should be the factor. the only way to keep us out is a loss to uga, and, imo, it would have to be a bad loss.
I agree. I do not think that the post season play should figure in when compared to regular season play. LSU's win should not be compared to Okie State winning their final game. Even though they call it a Big 12 Championship ... it's not, it's a regular season game. OU and Okie State could be sitting at the bottom, and they'd still play that game. LSU should most definitely not be compared to Bama in way or fashion. LSU went 12-0, Bama went 11-1 and lost to LSU. End of story. LSU should trump Bama in all cases, IMO. AND .. since neither Bama nor Okie State will be playing a post regular season game, they are game to be compared. IMO, Okie State wins that toss up if they beat OU.
Quote from Les Miles yesterday: Miles said he wished he had gotten Lee in the game against Arkansas sooner, but wanted to make sure "victory was assured." Miles did say the team is indebted to Lee for its success this season. "I can tell you this, the contributions that he's made thus far and that he is about to make certainly in the next two games will be very significant and has been very significant. I recognize that we would not be in the position that we are in today if it had not been for how Jarrett Lee played for us as quarterback." Just saying' . . .
Miles is full of crap! When your up 21 points in the 4th quarter ... victory is assurred. To boot, had he put Lee in, that last FG might have ended up being a TD. This is the second time CLM has talked up JJ and talked down JL. He is quoted saying that WKU was showing some things we didn't expect and we felt JJ was the best answer. .. now this rediculous quote. Don't think CLM is some sort of saint. He ain't. He was looking for the opportunity to get JJ in the game, Bama gave it to him, and now he is talking like Lee is incapable of even being on the field, let alone assurring victory. I call B.S. on that. Lee assurred victory in the first 8 games. I don't see why he couldn't have assurred victory against a whooped AR team. It's either Lee is in academic trouble ... or CLM is being an ass to him. Take your pick.
More coach speak. Miles has no intention of playing lee for any significant playing time for the rest of the season.
