I'm confused. Why was the guy arrested? Are they saying that because he won't say who supplied him with the gear that he must have stolen it. Did LSU report some gear as stolen?
I would think if they own a personal vehicle, they can sell it. The equipment they receive from LSU to play football is the property of LSU, thus selling it would be like stealing it, and then profiting from something that wasn't yours to begin with.
Even the LSU gear that the players receive from LSU or bowl games and they own can't be sold while the players are still in school by NCAA rules. If they wait until they are out, they can sell it. But stolen gear is stolen gear.
Sanders needs to get a lawyer. Being arrested for possession of stolen goods that are not recovered is weird.
All gear is leased out to players, they are borrowing it but have to return it to the school. I would think the school would be aware of who's gear is missing. I'd guess that the only way this guy gets a hold of that gear is if he steals it from a player or the player gave it to him to sell (or maybe some support staff stole it).
