I have been watching the Confederations Cup for the last 2 weeks or so and this is an even bigger upset after watching how poorly the US has looked in some of their defeats.

Brazil who dominated us last week will likely be our opponent for the Final on Sunday.

It is not bees. It is these GD plastic horns that south africa federation hands out to the fans. They media outlets tried to get FIFA to ban them but South Africa claims they are cultural.

How plastic is cultural i have no clue. F'in nnoying.

I love soccer. That was the best game the US National Team has played in at least 3 years.

just for reference, according to the FIFA ranks (not the greatest ranking system) Spain is #1 (deserved), the US is #14 (before sunday, i would have put them near #20)

    Big Miracle for several reasons.
    1. we generally suck against the top caliber European team
    2. Spain is #1 in the world
    3. 4 of the past 5 games, the US team has been flat embarrassing.

someone educate me. how does this matter? was it important for espana in some way? will they now not qualify for the WC? meaning--were they motivated? did they have their full roster?

Yes they had their full roster, no team brings a B roster. This is a tournament of the Champions of the Confederations.

FIFA has divided the world in to 6 Confederations -- Europe, Asia, Oceanic, Africa, Suuth American, and CONCACAF (Confederations of North and Central America)

This tournament considered of those 6 champs, the previous World Cup winner, and the World Cup Host nation. This is played 1 year before the world cup in the country that is hosting the WC.

This is a full international Cup. It is not as important as the World Cup, but it is considered a very important cup for FIFA.

the same way the soviets werent motivated against the US in 1980 i suppose.

really, you dont have to analyze some things.

seems like a huge win if you're a US soccer fan. pretty simple.
