I agree that he could become a great SEC QB, but he looks smaller than what A & M says he is--I doubt he weighs 200 pounds. His build is on the slight side for taking the beating he will take as a running QB in the SEC. In short, he's not built like Tebow or Newton, so he may have a hard time staying healthy. For the first couple of series, we were playing containment with Manziel, and he was dinking and dunking us to death. I called my mom in Louisiana and said, "Our defenders are fast enough to chase him; we need to get after Manziel to beat him--put his ass on the ground early and often. Force him to beat us on the run." Well...that was the ticket, wasn't it?
ex-freggin-actly... One can count on 1 hand the amount of proven National Championship winners in the past 8 years. LSU is not in a rebuilding phase. They have to keep the pedal to the metal!
When Crowton was here, fans bashed Miles for putting the handcuffs on Crowton. I didn't buy that for three reasons: (1)OSU had a productive offense with Miles as HC (2)LSU had a productive offense with Miles as HC and Jimbo as OC (3)Crowton's history showed that his offenses declined every year he served as OC. I'm not sure what to think now. It could be that Crowton was the problem and that Stud was a bad replacement. Naturally, Krag has his plate full with life's curveballs and is in no position to be OC. Will a new, quality OC make a difference? I sure hope so. I would love to see a Morris Watts type OC with Miles being "hands off".
I think that is a lot to do with the problem that causes us to win by the skin of our teeth. Our team/program is not hungry anymore. As far as coaching, Stacey can be pissed but there is definitely sloppiness. We can't even run our FG team on the field without screwing it up. Another thing, in the WareCat, we go to that formation cause Mett can't get it done so get him the phuck off the field when we do. What's he going to do, RUN? THROW A PASS? If he could do those things we wouldn't be getting cute with trickery.
I'm not pissed at all, Tiga. Our coaching is always sloppy with Miles, and we'll often win ugly. But we rarely LOSE at all. I'll take that every day and twice on Sunday.
Oh no doubt Tiga. I've said this before, the defense keeps the game close, but so does the offense. It is what it is. If LSU were losing these games it would be one thing, but they are not. After I have yelled and cussed the tv out for 4 hours, my team ends up winning. There are not 10 teams in the nation that are better than LSU year end and year out. It is hard for me to scream change until that changes.
You know...... Here's a dream that has no chance of becoming a reality, reuniting John Chavis with his old coaching counterpart, David Cutcliffe as offensive coordinator. But, I really can't put the blame for the offense on the OC this season, and Duke is now bowl eligible so..... Just a dream.....
