Who will be the starting pitcher for UNC tomorrow and how does our offense matches up with him?

There fielding is there week point on the team so i think we need to hit the ball on the ground and make them make the plays to get us outs instead of fly outs and strike outs to make it easy on them.

I really hope the momentum carries over from last nights game to tomorrows game like it did against UCI! If it does it would not matter who they put on the mound we will win.:tigbas::crystal::tigbas:

Good question. Will we go up against the same pitcher from game one. He should be pitching for the Mets or Yanks.

Initially, last night, I was pulling for UNC because I figured we'd have a good shot at beating Fresno State because they are pitching short (2 starters injured). I changed my mind though because even if we'd beat FSU, we'd face UNC with their entire staff rested. This way, we have to beat a Freshman All American (Matt Harvey, 7-2, 2.52 ERA) but if we win, we have a better shot at beating Fresno twice because it's going to be a slugfest.

I think the Heels are in for a tussle.

If it is the pitcher from the 1st game he is going only on 3 days rest. He will be pulled early if he gets in trouble and i think we can hit the ball off of there bullpen.

Blake Martin will likely start tommorow.

He has the lowest opponent batting average allowed of all starters with a .249.

He's given up less hits then our other starters, but when he does give up hits, they are usually hit better (32 xbh compared to 27 for Bradford, and 30 for Verdugo), not to mention he has seen less batters then both.

From what I gathered by watching the UNC game Sunday, they were just poking weak singles all over the field, some I'm not really afraid of their power. Martin just needs to watch the free passes, and not give up the big hits with RISP.

    For UNC:

Matt Harvey seems to be their 3rd pitcher, but is more bullpen as he pitches normally 3-4 innings before giving way to Brian Moran.

Harvey 7-2 with a 2.52 ERA, 74 strike outs in 60 IP. Opponents are only hitting .210 off of him. He has given up only 11 xbh this season and 0 HRs... so it will be a test for our guys.

If we can run his counts high and get him out ASAP, then we may be able to touch up their bullpen. If this guy gives them 5 IP, they'll be a tough nut to crack.

Is Harvey a right or left hander? Do you think we should leave Landry in the lineup or put someone else in his place? It seems that the eye is giving him some trouble at the plate picking up the pitch.

    RHP

and I think Landry should sit until he has complete vision back, he's amazing when he's 100% but if his depth perception is f'd up or he's still experiencing blurred vision, then we can't afford him making a mistake in center.

Not to mention the plate. He hasn't hit well at all in this series, and I have to believe it's either the eye, or that facemask.

don't see his eye hurting him in his fielding just at the plate. who should we put in his place? I know we will move JM to center but who do we put in left? Do you put in Dishon, McGee or Dean? If you put Dean you can get Ochinko's bat in the lineup.

Landry had a flyout that he didn't react to in time (during the UNC game) that had his eye been better, he likely would have gotten the jump on. You could clearly see in the replay the delay it took for him to focus and pick up the ball before moving on it... where before it was a focus and move all at once. He doesn't have to wear that helmet, its precaution and I bet we'll see him without it Thursday if he's in the starting lineup
