Not really, Look at 2007, beating the CHIT out of VT is one of the reasons LSU got pushed to the 2007 Champ game. They finished very strong. Now flip that and have VT beat LSU BUTTTTT, let LSU not have lost to Ark/Ken.....LSU still would have been sitting very nice at season’s end with a loss to a respectable team rather than Ark/Ken.

UNC is very likely to have a good season; at least I expect them to finished ranked which helps LSU in any way you look at it.

So if we break it down, LSU has the chance to beat 4-6 ranked teams this season. Obviously depending on a few teams, but UF, Bama, UNC and Ark are sure to be ranked. LoL miss and Auburn could be along with WV.

Well no because VT eventhough they were on their way down in recent years the were a powerhouse....so they were still a good team in the publics eye.

And 07 I dont know how much that win "pushed" us into the National Championship I mean a win was better then a lose BUT without Pitt beating WVA then its all moot!

And even if UNC does end up ranked they are still looked at like a ACC cellar dweller when it comes to football.

I am sorry but at the end of a season having a win vs. a team that is ranked at the end of a season means something no matter the "personal" opinions of that team..

I'm just looking at it from the same perspective of WHY LSU wont play Boise St.

It's a game, amigo. I sat through the 90's and didn't want to jump off the roof. I enjoy football season, no matter what. We can't win a trophy every season, nobody does. And I just ain't suicidal about a 9-win season in the tough SEC where we are practically guaranteed to play the eventual National Champion every year . . . sometimes twice.

Despite the issues at QB and OL, LSU improved over 2008 and came within a second of having another 10-win season. Two of the losses were to top-5 teams. Nobody blew us out. We are not likely to be a worse team, despite having a tougher schedule that may see us go 9-wins again.

Let's see . . . I base my estimation of this season based on the ACTION and reality of what the team has demonstrated on the field. You base yours upon fears about what you IMAGINE the future holds. Yeah, that's about right.

    I don't see it as a lose/lose.

Partly, this is because I don't think the nation sees UNC as quite the doormat some on this board do. I expect that they'll get a considerable amount of hype prior to the season--mostly due to all the highly regarded guys on D.

Nationally televised games against OOC schools should never be considered lose/lose if for no other reason than because they present a great recruiting opportunity. Recruiting hasn't exactly been a weakness around here, but it never hurts to gain a foothold in a new region.

Most importantly, as we learned in '07, a big win over an good OOC school can pay off big time come bowl selection season. UNC can certainly be our VT this year--not that I really expect us to blow them out.

It's ok to think this team will go 6/6 but I love how you proclaim like it's a given.

I don't think we will go 6/6 and if we win the first game and show we got O watch out. I am looking forward to the season ! just one ! is ok right?

Now that baseball season is tanking, all our attention is now directed towards football.

This is a great thread...lots of insight and passion but not enough beer :hihi:.
We need to officially call a beer summit somewhere so that the proper tone for this thread is officially established...

    ...any seconds?.

I think it'll set the tone, but not the way everyone's thinking. I don't think if we lose by 3 points that the team tanks. I think the team comes out firing to send a message. But a hard fought agame resulting in a loss won't spell disaster.

And just because I have the feeling that this year is gonna suck doesnt mean I am giving myself ulcers over it...weither or not LSU wins or loses I will still get up and fix my kids breakfest and on saturday I will be tailgating!

The problem with last season is the lack of progression from Game #1 to the Bowl Game....all year long we watched the same team...the coaching that should have been there to correct the mistakes was not there.

Yeah and they are BOTH FLAWED...I'm not saying my feelings are right or wrong NOR am I saying that your comparisons to a totally different team are right or wrong...they are what they are.

NO ONE has PROOF that this team will WIN or LOSE and to think so is just idiotic!!!!
