Vampmuse can vouch for me on this [being as we are next door neighbors] ... but AR is filled with "the entitled kind". It makes sense to me that they didn't shake Berry's hand .. .they probably expected ULM to throw the game so they could look good! Really .. you have no idea what its like to live among these people. Fricken KARK TV doesn't even feature any sports but the "Razorback Nation". ... losers. Here in Conway, there is this team called Central Arkansas Bears .. and over in Jonesboro, there is the team called Arkansas University Red Wolfs. .... you'd never know it listening to the news.
This is true. UCA even played a SEC game this year, Ole Miss and was even beating them at half-time. It barely got a mention at all. In fact our crazy colored field got more press outside of Arkansas than it did IN Arkansas.
espnU will be replaying the Monroe-Arky game tonight at midnight. I'm gonna DVR it and watch it after work tomorrow. I saw the highlights but I would like to watch it from start to finish.
It was a good game! I'd had it DVR'd and after LSU, watched it all. Those guys at ULM played hard; the coach took huge chances with multiple fourth downs--and the team delivered! Score wise it was NOT close: the pigs put up 21 unanswered in the 1st half. Then TW didn't show on the field for the second, although his reliever, Brandon Allen, did well overall. ULM finally scored again (after their opening drive in the 1st) at 5:41 left in the 3rd. They put up their 21 points and dragged Arky into OT. Arky had to settle for a FG, then ULM QB ran it in for 6. And then began such a weeping and gnashing of teeth, and rending of garments, and rude behavior and other slights perpetrated by the piggie coach and some players. There was no joy in Mudville, Mighty Piggies had struck out. My congrats to ULM. They served up some Humble Pie last night, but no piggies were buyin'.
I know everyone is having a laugh about ULM beating the pigs. But it really doesnt help the SEC when Arkansas loses to a Sunbelt team. When things like strength of schedule are brought up believe me the SEC critics will bring this up. Just like most years if there is a debate between 2 or 3 undefeated teams it will come up. So although it is a slight chuckle, Arkansas losing this game was an overall negative for the SEC. A BIG negative.
I don't think it's going to hurt because there are tons of built in excuses. Petrino fired, Quarterback knocked out of game. I think the national writers are going to realize they screwed up in putting Arkansas at 8. No one would think twice if Vanderbilt or Kentucky lost to ULM. Now if ULM beats Auburn next week, I'm not gonna know what to think.
