anyone who can explain this? It was at the end of the game re-cap on CNN-SI. I know that D1 schools have to meet certain attendance stipulations each year as far as averaging a certain amount of fans per home game but how can they do this?
In 2004? DI-A requirements were changed from an average of 15,000 per game actual attendance to paid attendance for home games. For teams struggling to meet 15,000 a game, that’s why you see cheesy $1 tickets where boosters can inflate the numbers. Arkansas was doing ULM a favor, but with paid versus actual attendance as the new standard, it probably wasn’t needed. I have no idea how the revenue was distributed, but I’m guessing it was at least partially weighted towards Arkansas... Added: Apparently actual attendance figures still count, but paid attendance can be used as well. Arkansas got the revenue, but ULM got the actual attendance to pad their totals. As a ULM alum and being very unimpressed w/Arky's last game, I listened to all of this one on the radio. From the middle of the 2nd quarter to just about the middle of the 4th quarter, ULM was in control. We were up by 24-6 in the 3rd quarter. I think the defense just ran out of gas at the end and Arky got some lucky catches. No turnovers, so it wasn't a sloppy game or anything. Looks like the Sun Belt might be better than the ACC this year. =) (Though, I'll admit, Arky's gotta be the worst 2-0 team right now.)
i was at this game ... couldnt let my wifes college come into ark and me not go and cheer them on ... i was 1 of 30K (?) sporting a purple lsu jersey walking through the depths of the razorback tailgating hell just to get to the game ... not sure how many near fights and how many times people mummbled **** as i walked by ... such as "are you lost" "got boot?" "lswho" ya da ya da ... but i held my ground laughed most of it off and came back with ... do you even know when the last time you had the boot before now ? they avoided the question and just kept hollaring like a arkansas razorback fan following everyone else and they knew they didnt know crap about football ... my fav comeback to their **** talking was how many crystal balls do you have ? honestly i dont think they even knew what the crystal ball was b/c they gave me a blank look ... and that was just walking from the parking lot to the stadium through the golf course once getting to the stadium it got worse ... the name calling and obvious poor sportmanship ... but i held my head high and laughed about most of it but im getting pretty tired of it by now ... try to get to my seat and people are very rude not wanting to get out of the way and people sitting in my seats and not wanting to move ... but i gave him 2 options and the 2 guys moved ... i was stepping all over the people that wouldnt move trying to be an ass ... ulm played crappy honestly, arkansas played worse but ulm's weak linebackers kept ark in the game ... the "could be" game winnning fieldgoal would have been in front of me and i do have video of it but he shanked it somehow ... and we bolted outta there ... CANNOT WAIT TILL THE LSU/ARK game ... at least i wont be the ONLY one in a 10 mile radius with a purple lsu jersey on
