So is this just posturing? Russia is now threatening to keep Americans off of the international space station because of the sanctions being placed on them due to their actions over Ukraine. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...ing-Space-Station-over-Ukraine-sanctions.html
They're not going to kick us off. They're just not going to give us a ride. SpaceX should be up and running by then. What a weak threat. "If you don't be nice to us, we're going to stop giving you rides in six years."
Wars are inevitable, amigo. "There is no avoiding war; it can only be postponed to the advantage of others." -- Niccolo Machiavelli, The Prince "War is regarded as nothing but the continuation of state policy with other means." -- Carl von Clausewitz, On War "The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting." -- Sun Tzu, The Art of War
That's a stupid answer. It's the Ukraine. To go to any war over that country is more absurd than the invasion of Iraq.
Like going to war for Poland in 1939? No the analogy isn't exact 123. Russia is no Germany...however sometimes overall geopolitical politics outweigh the specific value of a country. Really it may be closer to the Ruhr or Czechoslovakia before Poland. There is no doubt that stopping Germany from holding the Ruhr would have toppled Hitler and from the writing of German general staff the same would have happened had Chamberlain not bowed in Munich. No one is advocating a shooting war here but it may be that stouter defense of Ukraine and sanctions on Russia as are being threatened will reduce the likelihood of further and worse trouble down the line. At some point though we may have to take the fight to Russia be it in western Ukraine, the Baltics or Poland again. If that happens we should condemn those not strong enough to stop Russia when the cost was lighter.
