Yep, good ol' Joe Schad. This is the same guy whose news about Miles taking the Michigan job if offered broke during the NC game. He seems completely credible, and I'm sure he has no axe to grind with Miles.

Since when does that matter? ..... oh, wait ..... :dis:

Evans and Schad have very little credibility, but then again, they aren't really journalists, are they? :yelwink2:

I would expect stories like this to become part of our everyday routine. It's obvious the little beat writers at ESPN have a vendetta against the SEC.

Didn't like my impression, Caddy? :bncry:

It might be much ado about nothing, or it might be significant. I'm not qualified to say either way. A lot of sports "journalism" today is garbage, but I'm simply not willing to shoot the messenger just yet, at least not until this full story Schad is talking about comes out.

I dunno. I don't thinks it's a vendetta as much as a significant cultural shift. I recently heard a radio interview featuring Brooks of SportsByBrooks.

When asked by the interviewer about the tabloid-style, rumor-mongering nature of many of of their stories, Brooks said something interesting. He equated what he does to the content produced by the likes of TMZ and DrudgeReport. He proudly proclaimed that the only difference between him and them, was that he was "doing it for college sports, by giving the public what they wanted." He further stated, "no different than the major networks do regarding the NFL players, they are recognizable public figures."

When I first heard it, I was thinking there's one huge difference .... NFL players are paid millions and being a public figure is a part of their job description. Not so for collegiate athletes.

Brooks, Evans, Thamel, Schad, ... and others like them, have collectively assaulted what was once considered an off-limits group.

I'm not sure which bothers me more, .... that the public can sit by and accept gossip-by-Brooks, with no journalistic standard ... or what it says about how our society is changing.

At the very least it is ungentlemanly and classless, IMO.

Well, Wednesday came and went, didn't it? Was that not enough time for Schad to make something out of nothing?

Yeah, that whole page is gone. Maybe ESPN got tired of him making them look stupid and canned his ass? Not likely, but it would be awesome.

LSU could just pay the junior colleges and high schools for the video. What are they actually paying these agents for?
