Good win, Tigers! A win is a win is a win... I won't say great, because LSU really almost seem to try to keep it close. Missing too many free throws and at times clearly not sharp. But, in a league where teams just seem to find a way to lose, LSU doesn't. They'll have to play a lot sharper this weekend. :geaux: :bball:
Man...those two loses to Coastal Carolina and South Alabama HUUUUURT!!! 19 -8 would be GREAT but I'll take 17 - 10 with a very legitimate shot at finishing 20 -10 and 10 - 6 in league play! We have to lock up that #4 seed in the tourney and get a first round bye!
Heck even one of those bad loses in the win column would look good about now. Even if we win out it's going to take some doing in the tourney to make the NCAA. Stringer hit what...4 threes? He was one fiyah. The free throws were maddening.
All in all, LSU sits at 17 wins, 7-6 in the SEC. No time to be complacent, but how many of our LSU "fans" thought the Tigers would be here at the end of last season? At the beginning of this season? Certainly not most of the basketball world who picked LSU to finish 8th or 9th in the SEC. Kudos for Trent and staff, and kudos for this team for sticking together and playing hard, despite some of the air of negativity around the program. After the game, Trent said: "I want to say after we left Charleston we continued to get better. For me, I see them every day, sometimes I am really critical on them. But when Joe Dean Jr., who knows a little bit about basketball or Dino Gaudio from ESPN, who use to coach at Wake, when those guys say your guys have gotten better individually and collectively. Sometimes, as a coach, when you are around them every day you just over analyze it, but I feel we have gotten better." Let's keep getting better. One game at a time, and one day at a time. Another tough road game this Saturday against Ole Miss. :geauxtige:bball::geaux:
I didn't think they would be here two weeks ago, as long as we're being honest. But after just losing 5 out of 6, can you blame me? Stringer and JOB were the stars of the night, each shooting 50%. FTs were an issue, but just from the bench. The starting 5 were pretty good from the line.
