UGA is amazing on the road under Richt. they will come out fired up and play lights out until LSU counters. if LSU blinks UGA could be up 21-0 obviously the main factor will be LSU's OL. without decent success early, there is little chance. this will be more difficult than you may think, not because of their DL, but because of their LBs----very good. Ellerbe will be back, but the backup has been a stud in his absence. the saving grace here is that UGA hasnt been able to put pressure on any QBs. On D, the DEs and LBs will have to play well to keep Moreno from going nuts. i think he wont be able to run up the middle. something to look for is what LSU WR gets matched up with their very weak DB-Evans. looks like their best Prince and Allen take the slot (Lafell) so Byrd should get the easy matchup. UGA has no decent pass catching TE, so thats a load off. UGA has two very good FBs---probably the best in the SEC is back after being out a few games---Southerland. but recently the backup Chappas has looked great catching passes. LSU wins if they dont start in a hole (cant play the first half like against UA, UF or USC) and if Lee doesnt screw up too much.
I kinda of liked the way the Tigers were alternating the QBs this last game. I kept having to focus to see which one was in. Maybe they ought to wear the same number like our punters so no one knows.
:geaux::crystal::helmet: This is going to one heck of a game! Our Tigers will have to bring their "A" game to win. One weapon Ga. has that no one has mentioned is WR Mohamed Massaquoi (sp). I saw him in a couple of their games and he is good! If LSU does not watch him, he will burn us. The DB's will have to be on top of their game this Saturday or it will be a long day. I don't think they will let us down though. Geaux Tigers! :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:
Both teams are "beatable". I think it is a close game and since it is at home we have a decent shot. We are a 2.5 fav, but at Georgia I think its 5 or 6 the other way. Bottom line, defense shows up we win, Crowton will find a way to score. (assuming turnovers are equal) Should be a great game
Stafford has a cannon and can use it a lot more effectively then Lee. These two aren't all that close.
It is frustrating watching Stafford because you can have the perfect blitz on and get pressure on him and he has such a strong arm he can get himself out of trouble almost every time - the DB's have to stay on their receivers. It would be like playing golf with Tiger and on every par five you hit it right down the middle, lay up, then miss a ten footer and make par. He hits it 60 yards right of the green after his drive went 40 yards right, hits a flop shot to twenty feet, and makes a birdie - it is sort of unfair.
Tiger = Stafford..............Giving up a stroke per hole? Bad Comparison. How about this comparison? Phil Mickelson = Stafford Much closer comparison, can be brilliant, great physical tools, but very likely to fold under pressure or make a careless "shot" here and there.
I'm thinking we lose this game. I also said in here that I thought we would lose the Florida game. To win, you have to have a good QB in the SEC. Stafford is good, overrated, but good and solid. He is good with the long ball. They are a balanced team on offense. We will have to crowd the box to stop Moreno, which will put even more pressure on the secondary, which has shown it can't handle the likes of SC and MSU QB's at times. The safeties are playing terrible and the db's are struggling at times and have little help from the safties it seems. Let me be fair though, I've not bashed Lee much because he is a RSF and has a lot of pressure on him and has only seen the SEC speed a few times. So I've allowed him to make mistakes and goof up because it is expected....maybe I should give the secondary some breaks too since they are young. But some of those guys have experience and are still out of place. I think it is a coaching issue. Because of the need to stop Moreno and force Stafford to beat LSU, well that means we are forcing the secondary to win the game for us on defense and I'm not liking the odds. Couple that with Lee's inexperience and mistakes and I think we have our 2nd loss. I think Lee is gaining some confidence and he has shown some splashes of brillance. He needs to get in a rhythm and that is one reason I don't care for switching qb's so often. Occassionally is fine but not every 3rd or 4th play. Bottom line is that UGA will crowd the box to stop the run just like LSU will do, and they will force Lee to pass and beat them. In all honesty I have more faith in Stafford and UGA's secondary than I do Lee and LSU's secondary. I really hope they prove me wrong though. I'm not bashing anybody but just stating some facts and opinions that I've come to and being completely honest with myself.
