That was my first reaction. But after reading some of the comments in this thread, i'm thinking he wasn't so far from the truth.
Not sure where you are going here but here is my .02. It is an amazing thing for them. They won 89 in a row, probably will take it out well past 100. It is in womens basketball. Lets keep it in perspective and not try to make it something it isn't. People see things differently and that is their right to do so.
2 different sports. Men's game is played above the rim, women's game is played below the rim. And don't give me that Candace Parker dunking bull...... Women's 3 point line is closer, and their basketball is smaller also.
Well, in women's basketball there are a handful of superstars that migrate to one of the few places a woman can shine ... UConn, Tenn, and one or two ACC teams. The other teams get the leftovers. Other teams will see one or two now and then but those teams have the big draw. There is much more diversity in the men's league.
None of these comments posted thus far make any sense. We're not comparing UConn's team to that of a men's team. We're comparing the fact that they have dominated their peers to such an extent that it broke the record that UCLA's mens team did against it's peers. If it was so easy, why hasn't Tennessee done it? It's an amazing accomplishment and the fact that they have had maybe a half dozen games that were not won by minimum double digits during this streak is the most amazing thing about it. They are going to top 100 and probably end up with about 125 or so before it's over, late in 2011.
