Aren't all of those Salvation Army bell ringers homeless?

    Yeah, good stuff, vball.

The real risk with any “bad” orthopedic injuries are the neuro and vascular complications. My original response to this was when you said “it’s maybe not as bad as it looked for Milton” and then referenced the word “knee dislocation.” I’m not an Orthopedist, but trust me, in a conditioned, muscular athlete running full speed and suffering a “dislocation” of a weight bearing joint like a knee, that term is not a good one. It’s a simplistic reference for multiple injuries that likely include ligaments, bones, and/or neuro vascular components. In other words, dislocated is not better, it’s likely worse. And, again, it’s a term not used commonly. At least not in my 25 years, non-orthopedic setting:).

Nah, it’s FOR them. Multiple groups volunteer to ring the bell.

Raleigh has the largest group of Y-guides in the country. It’s YMCA sponsored, dads and daughters, or dads and sons, that form “tribes”. Our tribe is 9 dads and daughters, who are all in the same school class. We had 3 dads and daughters each take 2 hour shifts of bell ringing and Xmas song singing to get people to give. Unfortunately, our shift was 100% rain in 35-40 degree weather, but we raised over a $100.

Update from central FL area. He has nerve damage. Expected to heal over time. He needs total reconstructive knee surgery. He is in good spirits but will face a long uphill battle to ever play football again. Orthos say it's unlikely.

That’s a shame. That leg, post collision, is a haunting memory.

Any posterior dislocation of the tibia results in rupture of the PCL. Anterior dislocation or twisting usually tears the ACL. Twisting can also tear MCL and LCL. Lateral dislocation can tear the LCL and medial dislocation will tear the MCL. ACL tears tend to cause a lot of swelling, even in mild tears as there is an artery that runs adjacent to it resulting in bleeding inside the knee. Looking at those pics and the report that is was a total reconstruction means that he tore all four ligaments. ACL, PCL, LCL, and MCL. Saying it was dislocated might sound better or not as severe in lay terms but it is actually quite catastrophic and not an injury anyone would prefer over a run of the mill ACL or MCL tear.
