Ware and Baxter were the best RBs today and the same goes for during the practice week. Reed did some good at CB. Lache didn't do anything. Marsh was as expected and Reid did good too and was one of the top CB of the week. Usually don't hear much from CBs unless they get beat so that is a good thing.
Well, I don't follow this as close as most of you, but I yelled an expletive deleted, "yeah" when I saw Ware was LSU guy. Thought he was as good as anyone. Missed the first several minutes, only saw Seastrunk, once on that long cross field run for naught, more or less. He apparently did not light it up. But would take him in a nano-second, I think. I did not realize that Marsh was one of ours, another really good thing. Got a little sick of the Gators and then that one azz picked UT instead of Carolina, but I would say our guys represented pretty well. Memo to Coach Miles: There is a 5:35 flight to the LaGuardia, American 3540. Get on it. Now. Screw Dartmouth. hwr
The DB's held their own for the entire game for both teams. Seemed like a very talented group, some great plays made against top notch receivers.
NBC has the video of the game here. Have a video for each quarter and a highlight video (that has Ware's long run and Marsh's FG block) All-American Bowl- nbcsports.msnbc.com
Here are the Awards from Rivals: Fastest Player: Lache Seastrunk RB, 5-11/192, Temple (Texas) Temple He showed extreme quickness and speed throughout the week at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl practices. He challenged DeAndrew White, Robert Woods and Dior Mathis in a race and came away victorious. Best Rusher: Spencer Ware ATH, 5-11/220, Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton Many doubted that a quarterback could make the transition to running back. Ware not only made transition but also ran hard with natural forward body lean all week, and he ended up being the leading rusher in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Honorable Mention: Dillon Baxter Most Physical: Cassius Marsh DT, 6-3/275, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian He's a nasty player who pushed his teammates during the week. Marsh had a blocked field goal that resulted in a touchdown in the game. He was considered by many to be the top defensive performer for the West during the scrimmage and Thursday's practice. Honorable Mention: Sharrif Floyd Stock Rising: Cassius Marsh He dominated all week during practice because of his superior effort and nasty disposition on the field. Marsh also proved to have the frame and athletic ability to play either defensive end or defensive tackle, which is the toughest combination for college coaches to find on the recruiting trail. Honorable Mention: Jeffrey Whitaker, Spencer Ware Stock Dropping: Lache Seastrunk He seemed very aloof at times and was late for meetings throughout the week. Seastrunk's ball security was less than desirable; he carried the ball around like a loaf of bread. There are two big questions about this talented athlete: How serious is he about the game? Can he become an every-down back? Honorable Mention: Ahmad Dixon TigerBait.com - U.S. Army All-American Bowl awards
East Stars of the Week: 3. SPENCER WARE ATH, 5-11/220, Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton Committed to LSU Ware came into the week as the least-heralded back on the East squad and he is leaving as the most impressive, at least for this week. He ran hard and downhill during practice and in the scrimmage and in the game itself he was arguably the best offensive player for the East with 65 yards on just 8 carries. Ware runs with natural leverage, he loves contact and has great balance and body lean so he's always falling forward. He'll be tough to deal with for SEC teams. Oaks Christian Committed to LSU Perhaps no one helped themselves more with their All-American Bowl week than Marsh. He came in as a low four-star prospect that was considered one of the top defensive tackles in the West and he left making it clear that he is one of the top interior defenders in the entire country. Marsh plays with a ton of confidence and effort but he is also very athletic. He was a mainstay in the backfield and usually had at least one of every day's biggest hits or most impressive plays. Though he doesn't have great size, Marsh's athleticism and strength are more than enough for him to have dominating showings. Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Army Bowl: West stars of the week
