http://www.ohio.com/mld/beaconjournal/sports/16641184.htm Surprised he would make comments like that.
I'm surprised the NBA is so hypocritical in that they will pay a guy billions of dollars and cry when he says it's all about the money.
Pretty dumb on Tyrus' part. He should have at least pretended to be honored to be invited. Keep the money motivation bit to yourself next time....
I think since this has become a bit of a hot topic on talk radio, he should play it up more. I am thinking for his first dunk attempt, he should take off from the other end of the floor full speed and do a reverse layup. Then, go over to the judges and grab MJ by his shirt collar and demand his damn check.
He was talking about the dunk contest, not the game. There's a huge difference between the two. I've always been a big fan of the dunk contest, but realize I'm in a quickly-shrinking minority. I'll pretty much watch anything with Barkley and Kenny Smith announcing though.
I love the slam dunk contest, and I don't care who is in it. It don't have to be "stars" to please me, because a 360 by a bench warmer looks just as nice as one by MJ. It has been getting better the last few years... Last year's one sucked, because Nate Robinson took literally 100 tries to get 1 dunk down, and he still won, but a few years ago when J-Rich went between the legs the opposite way, it was TIGHT.
I personally think the dunk contest is stupid. A 360 dunk is a 360 dunk is a 360 dunk. Now they are using props, jumping over dudes sitting in chairs. This year, someone might go truck and tractor pull on us and line up 6 guys in chairs and jump over all of them.
The problem is each year the dunks have to top the previous years' best dunks. Put some of these guys in the 'epic' dunk contests with Jordan, Dominqiue and Spud and they look light years ahead of the guys from the 80s and 90s.
