[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaIyg5apVZw]Tyran Mathieu hits Dre Kirkpatrick - YouTube[/ame] how can you call this a dirty "hit"? he grabbed him by the shoulder, pulled a little, and then let go. Dre landed awkward. A hold, but not a personal foul warranting an ejection. He got burnt so he was trying to protect his teammate from a big collision. Enough said. This discussion is over.
Unless you want to talk about the Hightower late hit that wasn't called. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBe6Ez1OwO4]Da'nte Hightower obliterates Jarrett Lee, #1 LSU vs. #2 Alabama 2011 - YouTube[/ame]
That wasn't that bad. He was already full speed before the ball was thrown. I would reference the late hit on Jefferson when he was already out of bounds. And the hit when he was already heading out of bounds by Dre Kirkpatrick but that wasn't a terrible non-call.
He came from behind him, and slaughtered him with his forearm... If you don't call that a cheap shot, I don't know what you would. And hightower had momentum, and had a legit reason to hit Lee... It's not like he could have just stopped, and it's not like there was a lot of time after he released the ball, to when he was hit.
Which is not against the rules. :insane: Slaughtered? He got held by his shoulder pads! When did the Bama team become such wusses? If it was after the play, I would. If it was holding by the helmet, I would. If it was a facemask, I would. All of those are personal fouls. Holding is NOT!!! That late of a hit with his helmet down has been called many times before. But hey, it's football, it's a rough game and you don't hear us crying about it. :hihi:
I disagree with a lot of the new penalties that are out there right now, and I think they are made for wusses. But ask yourself this... If it really were an "innocent holding call" why would Dre have blacked out for 2 minutes, and received a concussion?
It was the way he landed, he could have popped right back up and gone after TM7 which I am sure that’s what he would have done he not landed awkwardly. The end result had nothing to do with whether it was intentional. TM7 wasn’t running down the field planning on knocking out Kirkpatrick and giving him a concussion. From what I heard through the grape vine, was Kirkpatrick spit on TM7, but talk is talk, and its football, not Tennis
Les DID explain it in his press conference; it came up in the q&a. I'll have to replay the whole 'lunch with les' and will post the minute:seconds when it comes up as well as try to quote exactly what CLM said about it. ETA: the stupid 'player' that geauxzone uses doesn't like me so I can't pause and restart or fastforward or 'go back'.... probably just my idiot internet connection...
