Very interesting. I can almost believe he was trying to catch him across the chest and spin him around after looking at that. If that was the intent, then its a shame for TM that it looked so bad and his reputation (and LSU's) took a hit. Maybe CBS can show the play again next weekend and explain the mitigating circumstances--especially since Danielson also blasted it.

I've said several times in threads that I thought it was a STUPID play. TM was too far behind DK to make a block, better to let the play unfold than to take a big penalty. I think it is going way overboard to suggest Matthieu is a thug or a dirty player. He didn't want to get beat by DK and he made a decision that cost his team. But it wasn't a game breaker. It's time to let it go.

Agreed on all accounts. Thank you for the accolades. I'm hoping the SEC DOMINATES the Bowl Games.

    C'mon Tigers AND Tide!!

Tm was simply beat and trying to make up for it. Most holding plays are just that. Tm has allowed, at les miles fault, himself to get a bad rep on the field for trash talking. His own fault on the drug test added to that.
Tm is the best nickleback in college football, but he gets beat by top NFL quality receivers. I think the kid that played in his place aginst au is better at coverage but doesn't bring the big play potential that tm does to the field.
It's not tm's fault. His lack of size allows him to be pushed around by big receivers.

Miles allowed him too much media exposure. He was too young to handle the attention. His play has dropped over the last few games. He must refocus. I think that a game where we play nicke as our primary defense will allow tm to get back on track.

He should be pulled out of the media spotlight the rest of this year. He would do much better if the spotlight would go from being on him and back to what he does on the field.

Agreed to an extent, RWilliams. It is kind of funny how (minus the drug thing) TM7's career is mimicing PP7's. Didn't PP7 have a crazy good start to his Sophomore year and then fell off a bit toward the end of the year. Remember PP7's Junior year? Is that what we have to look forward to? Hope so!

You cannot hit a guy in the front right if you are behind him without some form of a penalty. I don't care what "technique" you use. If TM is behind him (which he was) and his "technique" get the other guy to spin (which it did) then it is holding. All day.

There is actually a poem out right now that includes a part in celebration about him "breaking a few necks"... I thought nothing could be more classless... This was a cheap shot on his part, and it could have been avoided.

I agree with one thing you said tappy, it should have been avoided. It was uncalled for. It was absolutely stupid to do that. That is at the very least.

It was a foolish hold behind the play, but it was not a cheap shot. He did not hit anyone in the head and he did not hold the helmet, but the shoulder pads. It was holding and a good call by the refs It was not a personal foul.

Football is a tough game, you can't cry about every hold.
