Tight end burns the linebacker over the middle going in for an easy TD (play started about midfield, huge pass play). Tyrann hustles over and punches the ball out of his hands at the 5 yard line. Arizona recovers in the endzone. Touchback. Dude is a straight up fucking baller. Never seen anything like it in my life to have that kind of instinct as a defensive player.
The first of many to come! Glad to hear though. Did he end up on there as a free agent? Not sure how that NFL stuff works. Will he get to negotiate a contract next year after proving himself?
One more thing. If they don't know by now to protect the ball around that lil pick pocket, shame on 'em
I believe he was actually drafted, with a stipulated contract. Doesn't matter if he keeps this up they'll be renegotiating for a lot more money to keep him in AZ.
He disrupted that play because he is relentless. He believes that the ball is fkn HIS. He's been bringing the pain all afternoon. What a frickin pleasure to watch! Announcers for both teams are saying stuff like "Tyrann Mathieu may be, pound for pound, the most valuable player in the NFL today." Imagine that! After 1.5 quarters of official season play. One word: PHENOMENAL!
Here is a better video. I really like the way he handled it from beginning to end. He never gave up on the play, a quick non-offensive celebration and off to the sidelines without making a big deal over it.http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-cant-miss-plays/0ap2000000240451/WK-1-Can-t-Miss-Play-Mathieu-saves-a-score[/URL]
