I've heard that too. Branch is currenlty 240-ish lbs. That's a LONG way from the typical 310 or greater your OT's are.

I'm not gonna say that that's not the plan, but I feel you can utilize him as a blocking TE until he gets to that 300 lbs range. I mean, a blocking TE is usually an extra lineman to begin with... So why not use him and get him accustomed to run/pass blocking on the end of the LOS as a TE until he's ready to move to tackle?

I'm glad we got this commitment, but I'm not quite sure what to make of Edwards. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on him as a receiving TE, which he obviously views himself as & we've apparently recruited him as.

The good thing is we have Dickson for 2 more years right? So even if he doesn't pan out as well as expected we have next year also to get a stud TE in the Dickson mold.

LSU signed alot of TEs last year and this year as well. Most will get moved to Defense or OL. TEs usually are good athletes and can be converted to other positions depending on size and strength. As CParso said, it appears TE will actually be playing the receiving TE position, not moving to DE or LB.

Correctly me if I am wrong but Spears was a TE, and matter of fact was not happy about being moved to DE. Now he has millions of reasons why he was pretty happy with that move later in life.
