Most of us are familiar with Michigan/Ohio State back in 2006, with Florida jumping Michigan in the last human poll and therefore jumping them in the BCS polls for #2.

Michigan's only loss was by 3 to #1 Ohio State. On the road.
Alabama's only loss is by 3 to #1 LSU. At home.

Florida played a top 10 Arkansas while Michigan was idle.
Oklahoma State is playing a top 10 team while Alabama is idle.

The comparisons are pretty spot on.

That's our only precedence we have as evidence to how voters reacted in the same situation we are in now.

    The fact that supports Alabama:

Every team that has ever been #2 in the BCS and was idle going into the last weekend's play has always made it to the national championship game (5 of 5 times this has occurred since 1998).

    Which one wins out?

If OKlahoma State trounces Oklahoma and Clemson upsets Virginia Tech, we won't know until late Sunday. That we can say for certain.

FYI, USC was #2 in the BCS going into the last weekend of play in 2006 and lost to a putrid UCLA team 13-9. It was a glorious day.

Well I am going to go to the NC game, and am in need of a ticket. So I went to the BCS site and bought an option to buy a ticket if that team gets in. The option for LSU and bama tickets was 1000 bucks! What this means is if you have an option, if that team goes you get to buy a ticket at face value from the BCS.

Here is the kicker, I went in and bought an option for an OKST ticket for only 50 bucks.
So if they don't go, I lose 50, if they go I get a ticket for face value plus 50 bucks. They were going for 200 before the Bama-AU game, once the blowout was on, they dropped to 80. I made a bid of 50 and someone sold to me.

Sorry, did I do a DB Cooper here?

Nice reminder of USC choking that last game. I hated that team with a passion mostly b/c of slapdick Pete.

Based on that evidence, it sounds like Okie still has a shot, but they would have to beat OU by at least 2 scores, no?

Here's the thing, if LSU & the gump's aren't in the BCSNCG, it would be a shame. I hate to admit it, but the gump's are no doubt the #2 team in the nation. IMO, it's LSU#1 gump's#2, & then a far drop to the rest of the pack. That being said, I don't think the system would allow 2 SEC teams to make it to the NC game. Personally, about 14 days ago, I wanted to play Stanford or Okie. Then Stanford lost, so it was Okie. Then Okie lost, so now what? LSU is the only undefeated team in the land, & bama's only loss was to LSU, in OT by 3, & all the gump's & their media buddies keep screaming that bama was the better team, they beat themselves, blah blah blah. So today, I want to play the gump's again. Make them come down here for all the marbles, have those hillbillies travel & spend their money in our state & give them another shot at it. This time, no matter the outcome, there will be no excuses for either team. It will be one game for the crystal, to hoist it up & show the world that you are the best, end of discussion, & I like LSU's chances. I think this would be the best scenario for LSU anyway, b/c if we were to play Okie or anyone besides bama & won, all they would be saying is that "bama/we should've had another shot at LSU, they/we got robbed, they/we would've beat them this time", etc. Give them another shot to make it a legit NC, & let's see what happens. This time we wont have to change our game plan in mid game b/c our QB craps himself. JJ will go in with a ton of confidence & over a month for him & the O coaches to work on things & fine tune the game plan. He threw the ball very well yesterday, for the most part. Looked like he did against A&M. We got this.

given the sec's recent dominance i think its possible that many voters are more anti-rematch now than they were in 06

the very low scoring in the first matchup doesnt help either

okst may get a few votes of sympathy because of the plane crash too.

bama lost at home; michigan on the road.

Forgot the game was at Ohio State.

    Thanks.

I agree with all your other points.

I think it has to be a 51-17 type score.

The kind of beating that makes voters forget about that Iowa State loss.

And Oklahoma State will end up with one of the top 5 toughest schedules in the nation.

About the same SOS as LSU. Just to keep things in perspective.

How the hell do they have even close to the SOS as LSU? They played 3 ranked teams: #8 A&M, #22 Texas, & #17 Kansas St., & they only beat A&M by 1! KSt. is the only team that's still ranked. I agree it's a tougher schedule than bama, but not even close to LSU's.

So Bama's justification for playing in the NCG is losing to LSU....this is too funny.

You sure about that? I thought USC was No.2 in '03 and they were idle when we played in the SECCG. (May be wrong about them being idle).

Actually, losing to us helps them because they don't have to play the extra game. They sit back and reap the rewards because they lost? That's what doesn't sit well with me.
