I don't think he ever wanted to play another down after he got his signing bonus. When I saw him being interviewed before the LSU-Ohio State game dressed like a 60's beatnik (not hippie, BEATNIK) with a million dollar gold chain around his neck, it just looked like he had a lot more interest in his money than he had in football. I hope he straightens it all out. In the end, it's all up to him.
While it's debatable if JR was good or great while at LSU --- In view of what happed to him after leaving, it's a trully a great credit to LSU that JaMarcus Russel was "clean" during his tenure here.
or was he? Coedine is a pain medication. I doubt they get tested for things they probably get shot up with all the time to play through pain. Do you know how many athletes would fail drug tests if they tested for pain meds?
we dont know if he was clean or not. however, he didnt show any of the traits of laziness, falling asleep, complacency, while at lsu, that he did as a raider. personally, i would say he likely was clean while at lsu.
this is true, but that doesn't mean he wasn't using. All of that laziness, lethargy, etc. that are signs of use, only happen if a person is taking massive amounts. You can take pain meds and feel like you just took a bunch of mini thins. If you take alot of it throughout a day, then you start falling asleep, being lethargic, etc. Also, when you first start using, small amounts can give you a high, but the more you take the more of a tolerance you build up. He could have easily started this at LSU and it gradually got worse. There is a pain medication epidemic in Louisiana.
