And I agree that this is the way it should be. I hadn't thought about that. Man, that would be a bad break. Still, it doesn't change the strength that is Alabama football this year.
True, but playing a team twice in the same year? Not easy to beat a team twice in the same year.......... Football - Schedules - LSUsports.net - The Official Web Site of LSU Tigers Athletics
Yes! All the SEC teams understand these things; it is the other conferences that haven't a clue, and carry an irrational jealousy of the top performing SEC teams, nurturing their envy in the little stone pebbles that they use for hearts. To feel better about their own conferences they try to chip away at our teams. The critics may never realize that they were witnessing an historical match on Nov. 5: football, the way it was, when there was essentially a rugby scrum on every play, and the forward pass was something not contemplated. If NOLA happens for our teams, so be it. We'll deal with it all--SEC style. :geaux::crystal::geaux:
I agree to an extent with the "best 2 teams should play" approach to the BCSCG. But, assuming a LSU/Bama rematch: a team that didn't win the SEC West and a team that didn't win the SEC championship would be the national champions, simply because it won the 2nd of 2 games against LSU? I'm likely in the minority, but that strikes me as a bit illogical. Bama already had its chance at home against LSU, and came up short. LSU eliminated Bama. Who's next?
That all sounds great. Almost like an "it isn't fair for LSU"-type arguement. Voters, I don't think, care at all what is fair for LSU. If the opportunity presents itself, Alabama would be voted #2 and the rematch would be on. As an LSU fan, I'd rather face someone new. If we did beat Bama twice in the same year to be National Champs it would be epic.
So, let me get this straight. You're saying a team that played a wussie schedule, lost to LSU in their home stadium in front of 100,000 of their screaming fans, didn't win their division and doesn't have to play in the SECCG, would have to beat LSU only once to win the National Championship while LSU would have to beat them twice seems illogical, not to mention unfair? Is that what you're saying?:hihi: I'm glad someone else is not drinking the red Kool-aid.
It isn't. And those points would be taken into account in the final standings, regardless of "best team" arguments. There are a lot of media members who panned the game for how "boring" it was, and don't want to see it again, and there are a lot of voters who don't want to see an all-SEC NCG.
Purple Kool-aid tastes much better. Good point about LSU having to beat Bama twice. Hadn't thought of that. :milesmic:
Count your head coach Les Miles as a Red Kool-Aid drinker Quote: I would be honored to play that team again!
Why is it a good point ... If Bama is the best at number 2, we want Bama And with time to prepare, we'll beat them again and take that crystal and shut their arrogant arses up for good! Don't you see the opportunity here ... fricken scared lil rabbits in here Don't matter anyway ... OSU is gonna roll through undefeated
