I think it would've been a mistake to let Tubberville go after one losing season, but I wonder whether or not he will be able to turn his program back around in just a year.

Of course, the last time he almost lost his job, he followed up with an undefeated season. I just don't see a Cadillac Williams or Ronnie Brown in their backfield at this time.

Fannin has Ronnie Brown talent if he can learn to hang on to the football. I agree that it would be a huge mistake for the barn to fire Tubs. I know of several schools right now who would kill to get him. He made a monumental mistake this year with the hiring/firing of Franklin, but he's a proven winner and he won't make a mistake like that again.

I think it hurt Auburn more especially on offense to make that firing in the middle of the season.

Look at Troy's offense and tell me that system doesn't work. :dis:

Was the hiring Tuberville's idea or was that forced on him by others ?

Uh, yes. Given that they tried to fire him a few years ago with the BPetrino mess, haven't really done squat since (other than preseason hype they have not been in the BCS picture at all), and had a poor season this year, yes, I thought he would be out of there, and still think he will be let go. I personally do not like the guy, but would concede he is a good coach. It will be a hard sell to bring in someone who will have to compete with Saban, but AUB has a lot of football tradition, and most good coaches like challenges. I could see someone like Pat Hill from Fresno St. fitting in there, if he would want to leave the likes of CA for ALA.

He was undefeated in '04, just one year after they tried to fire him. Hasn't done squat? He'd have been in the BCSNCG if the voters hadn't been in love with (shock, surprise!)--OU.

Notre Dame should hire Tubs. Good fit imo.

Tubbs ain't going anywhere. Tubbs is Auburn football. Yeah their O is struggling right now, but he'll get them back on track just wait and see. And their D is pretty solid, just need an offense to compliment them.
Tubbs is a great coach and a fixture at Auburn, I think he'll have them competitive next season.

whoops, did not realize that was the year after. well, nothing really since then, right? it seems they have been in a decline the last 3 years, but it's not like I really follow AUB football that closely.
