So it looks like #1 Reed and #2 Allen and that could very well be it as far as Louisiana recruits that end up in the 2010 class (besides the ones that have already committed - #3, #4, #5, #7, #15, #16).

Fobbs seems way up in the air still due to the fact he wants to play WR.

Positions 8-11 in his list are positions we don't have needs (WR and QB). Broussard at #12 has the issue with grades and the fact he already committed to Tennessee. Porter at #13 has the same issue as Fobbs, wanting to play on the defensive side of the ball and FSU is recruiting him for the DT position. Carter at #14 I don't see being offered due to position issues as well.

Anybody else you see making it?

I get the feeling we will take at least one out of Wright, Carter, and Fobbs. But the positions are all out of whack this year. I think Simon is a WR but I am beginning to wonder since LSU is still pursuing a ton of WR and Reed being a very strong possibility of ending up here. Out of those I would take Carter because he could play offense or defense if need be and I think defense is an easier sell to Carter.

I agree with everything on Porter and Broussard

The others I could see who could be potential backups if all else fails at their respective positions are OG Charles Barkins, C/S Urell Johnson, OG Luke Charpentier, DT Damien Jacobs, and DT Harold Legania. (We need a DT and we will be waiting a long time in hopes of convincing an OOS DT prospect to jump on board.)

You have to wonder if Porter would still be a better DT than our other options. Perhaps we will offer him a shot at DT and switch him to OL if he doesn't pan out. It is strange that with our reputation for producing DT's we can't lure a good OOS DT. Maybe the depth chart looks too imposing. Another option would be to simply not fill the DT spot this year. Les has also shown the ability to snag good JC prospects recently that are off the radar if we have depth concerns. Benay Pryor is still a DL possibility right?

We could still land a OOS DT but the main problem is the number of great DTs in this class. Pressure from schools across the country are battling for the same guys at that position.

DT Bryan Jones would be high on this list but he plays for an Arky HS team but lives in LA. He could be someone we offer in the future.

helm, fyi, Simon is saying on TOS that he will play either safety or CB at LSU.

Are you hearing anything on Porter? You really think FSU has the edge? :(

I hope we don't offer any of those backup plans unless someone like Jacobs has a great Senior season. LSU's roster is good enough where I'd rather hold the schollie for next year's class.

Tyrann Mathieu is a guy I'm following who is way down that list. TOS likes him a lot based on a strong showing at the Tenn camp, and he'll be at our camp trying to earn a schollie.

Glad to hear something recent from Simon about his position and that is the reason it seems we are targeting 2 more WRs. We could still only take one in the end but 2 is a possibility.

Porter sounded very upbeat about FSU and declared them the leader but that was on his way home from the visit and like most kids the excitement hasn't worn off yet. I think it is 50-50 between LSU and FSU. Will come down to distance and his feelings on playing OL, not sure which one wins out at this point.

I forgot to add Tyrann and I agree he is a candidate to get a LSU offer down the road.

I thought he would end up a DB. You naturally think of safety because he is tall. We can garner elite WR's so there is no need to try and turn prospects recruited as athletes into WR's. Most of the skill guys we recruit that don't have a set position will end up on the defensive side of the ball.

I hope Jones will be offered at the July camp. He has a decent offer sheet including Oklahoma and it would seem like we have a good shot at a guy who lives in LA even if he plays in Arky. I had heard about him before, but must admit he slipped my mind when I made the previous post. He is a 4 star on Rivals and may be our best option at DT.
