That's tickets sold, not actual attendance. I've seen creampuff games where the attendance was announced as over 90,000 and 25% of the seats were empty.
We are notorious for getting to the stadium late and leaving early. Partly because of how good the tailgating experience is.
If the engineers were diabolical, bleed-purple-&-gold LSU alums with a true sense of the wicked, they'd include a parabolic half-roof over the existing nosebleeds (along with the main expansions) to capture all that bound-for-the-stratosphere sound and re-focus it onto the field. LSU would need to require all visiting teams & coaches to sign waivers against lawsuits for loss of hearing. "It is haunted, and it is LOUD." :helmet::helmet::helmet:
Joe Dean was a worthless sack of an AD who set LSU back nearly a decade & we are only now catching up in facilities. I don't care if he funded the study, did the study, or studied at Middleton Library, expansion was a four letter word to him. And by plenty, do you mean one here & one there, or do you mean an entire section? I was at the UF & AU games & while I saw empty seats at kickoff, the stadium was full less than 5 minutes into the game. The UD corners & top rows are allocated to away fans & the NEZ is for students. If LSU is beating your ass, you are more likely to leave early & if you were ever in a fraternity, you know that there are plenty of students who care more about the party than the game. You want butts in the seats? Take away the student seats if they can't get there at kickoff consistently & stay to the end. Give those seats to fans (not companies) who are willing to pay full face value & you will see those seats filled sooner in the game.
